' Morrison: City 'can't rest on laurels' at Bolton '

Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:25 pm

Defender Sean Morrison says Cardiff City cannot take struggling Bolton Wanderers lightly when they meet in the Championship on Saturday.
Bolton are bottom of the Championship and players were not paid last month.

Owner Eddie Davies is not prepared to invest any more money while the club is for sale and so far they have failed to secure a buyer.

"They're in a difficult position but you can't rest on your laurels in this league," Morrison said.
"Going away to Bolton is very difficult regardless [of their position].
"They've got a good squad and a good manager [Neil Lennon] so we'll have to be on our A game to get all three [points]."

Bolton remain bottom of the Championship despite Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Brentford, a side one place below Cardiff in 11th.
Russell Slade's side are two points off the play-off places but have found goals hard to score, managing five in their last eight matches.

Morrison says the Bluebirds should do all they can to keep striker Kenwyne Jones, whose current deal expires at the end of the season.
Jones, 31, will be free to talk to other clubs in January but manager Slade is keen to hold on to the Trinidad and Tobago international.

"You can't buy experience Kenwyne's got. He's played eight-and-a-half seasons in the Premiership," Morrison said.
"A player like Kenwyne is vital to a Championship team.
"He's big and strong, he's going to score you goals and not only that he's going to link up play with people.
"If we can hold on to Ken and get him to play as many minutes as possible and keep him fit, it's huge for us."

He's right about Bolton, and he's even more right about Kenwyne.

I think we'll shit ourselves and do what we did at Blackpool last year. We never do well against the bottom side.

What laurels do we have to rest on? After a very good start that saw us in 2nd place after 6 games weve now only won 3 of the last 12 games.

Since we suffered our first defeat to Hull we have fully gone back into Slades negative football mode.
