But surely the point is there was segregation on the grounds of sex? That can't be swept under the carpet or be excused by a ridiculous link to the holocaust during WWII.

We live in the UK and the laws of the UK forbid this kind of nonsense. I am not concerned about 'cultural' differences, anyone who lives here abides by those rules and can't hide behind the racism card.

......no the point of the original article was that it was 'men only'..........but as per the above link it's plain to see it wasn't.

If people self segregate then in a FREE country isn't that allowed? How do you know they were FORCED to be segregated, I'm sure most of the people in that particular meeting would prefer to sit in a men or women section. 99% of people coming in would automatically go the their section. The fact is many women prefer that, if somebody wanted to go to another section then, I'm sure, they could but this meeting was a 'Friends of Bangladesh' group meeting so obviously the majority of participants would respect and prefer it that way. That is NOT breaking the law. Men are NOT the same as women, we both may be of equal worth BUT we are not the same, and to pretend we are is just dishonest.

The evidence is clear from the photo that some kind of segregation occurred. You say it was self segregation and I don't know if it was forced. Well how do you know it was voluntary segregation the same argument applies but on the balance of probabilities there was forced segregation. I have been to hundreds of political or public meetings and I have NEVER witnessed sexes segregated in such an obvious way.

For your information discrimination on the grounds of sex is an offence in the UK and you can't opt out on the grounds of religion or culture. There might be good reasons for female only gyms or schools but this meeting was open to everyone and therefore should-not be segregated forced or voluntary.

I tried to make the point that this is similar to the way Christian Europeans used to demonise the Jews using half-truths and lies. This propaganda peaked during the Christian European Nazi period. When the Jews complained about this they too were accused of "playing the victim" card.

I'd like to say I got that 14 year old girl raped and burnt wrong so will set the record straight. That happened in Sweden and this 17 year old Norway suffered the same. Why do girls date Muslim refugees for? I expect some are nice people but they'll never ever change.

I totally disagree with segregation but it's not against the law. There are golf clubs in the UK that don't allow women in the bar and male - only private member clubs.

To discriminate on the grounds of sex is unlawful. There can be justification for segregation in certain circumstances but I was talking in terms of a public meeting where male and females were segregated quite openly. Having attended hundreds of public meeting both political and non-political I honestly believe that the spirit of the law was broken at this meeting.
