Cardiff City's transfer window: The players the fans would like Russell Slade to go for in January
1 DEC 2015
BY SIMON GASKELL
Most Bluebirds believe it will take three new additions in the winter for Russell Slade’s men to be genuine play-off contenders come May
Here are the men you suggested could make a difference to the Bluebirds’ season...
Kevin Nolan
Still without a club and available on a free transfer following his exit from West Ham ahead of the season, Nolan was training with League Two Leyton Orient back in September. An experienced campaigner and leader, he could offer a vocal presence and goals from an advanced position in the middle of midfield.
Fraizer Campbell
Helped fire Malky Mackay’s team to the Premier League in 2012/13 and had some memorable moments in the top-flight, most notably his brace in the win over Manchester City.
Full of running and hard work, you would know what you are getting though the Bluebirds tried and failed with a loan bid at the start of the season. Has made just five appearances for Crystal Palace this season.
Dwight Gayle
Also linked with the Cardiff City Stadium in the summer but some of the figures being touted that would be required to sign him wouldn’t fit in with Slade’s ‘not shopping at Harrods’ mantra.
Has played nine times for Alan Pardew this season; his last appearance was a start against Manchester United at the end of October.
Peter Crouch
The rangy Potters star has made just three appearances in the Premier League this season with Walters, Bojan, Arnautovic and Shaqiri Mark Hughes’ preferred attacking weapons.
At 34, could perhaps offer another valuable season or two but may have to accept dropping down to the Championship to do so.
Joe Ledley
The homegrown favourite has made five Premier League appearances for Crystal Palace in 2015/16 so far and there has been more than the odd whisper linking him with a return home.
Whether that is just wishful thinking from fans, who knows, but has proved with Wales in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign he is still a capable performer.
Gary Hooper
Has been loaned to Sheffield Wednesday from Norwich in a three-month deal until January but hasn’t found the back of the net in four matches and hasn’t been an automatic pick for the Owls as he may have thought.
Went for £5m to Norwich after establishing a firm goals pedigree in Scotland with Celtic.
Matt Jarvis
Well down the pecking order at West Ham, the one-time England international has spent time on loan at Norwich but an injury earlier this month has curtailed his progress.
The loan to Carrow Road is a season-long arrangement so the Bluebirds would have to see that torn up for him to go elsewhere.
The main defensive name put forward for a return to the club where he started his career, Newport-born Wales international Collins has appeared nine times in all competitions this season and has seen red twice.
That included a late red against Watford at Vicarage Road at the end of October for a thunderous challenge on Odion I

I'm going to go right out on a limb here and bet that none of the players in that list will be brought in during January.
I'd like him to sign Messi and Ronaldo but he'd probably send them out on loan to League 1.

I reckon we will sign ...... Non of the above

The odds are on you being correct however the good news is we are playing in blue and if we go up with the squad we have now 2015/16 will go down in history as the "miracle of the costing cutting season"

Peter crouch ffs!!!
Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:50 am
I've not heard any City fan say they want us to sign Crouch.
Slow week for sport news then.

Why write an article about a bunch of players that were never going to sign.
Wed Dec 02, 2015 11:29 am
What a pointless article. May as well put Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Bale and Iniesta on there cos we got just as much chance of signing them.
Lets be realistic, any player that demands a wage of over 10k a week and isn't on a free, won't be coming to Cardiff.

Since when does Slade do anything that the fans want

Based on our transfer dealings over the past 12 months we have more chance of winning the Champions League than signing one of those players.
Unfortunately there appears to be no ambition or money for quality players anymore.

Do we want Tan gone or Tan to sign players?
Do we want debt reduction or Tan to sigh players?

Correct.
We have no money available for players.
Only for paying agents.

Thank Malky and Ole for that.

No, thank Tan, he runs the club and is apparently a fantastic businessman.

No thank the club for letting them spend it. Managers ask for players and the ceo/chairman/owner will say yes or no and sign a cheque. Just doesn't get through to you does it lol
Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:35 pm
We've already got enough players playing Slade's "Do not lose by much" style of football, without stifling more quality players!! Please Mr. Tan give us a manager who really believes he has a squad that can go out and win matches.
Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:39 pm
One thing listing players who we want, another thing getting any of them.
Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:52 pm
Not a chance of Slade signing any of those players,we buy class three eggs now,not class one or two.We will sign a couple no doubt from the likes of Accrington and Plymouth who nobody has heard of,and they will never play.
This of course has changed the dynamic of the club as Ollie used to sign anybody for fun,his signings though were class three eggs at class one prices.
