If You Think City Had It Bad Bolton Are In Dire Striaghts

Wanderers are £172.9m in debt and on Monday confirmed they had failed to pay their players for November due to short term funding issues.

Cardiff City's next opponents Bolton Wanderers are in crisis after it was revealed the club has failed to pay its players this month.

The club confirmed players had yet to be paid due to a 'short-term funding issue' amid reports the PFA has been drafted in on behalf of around two dozen affected players.

The bombshell news comes ahead of the Trotters' Championship clash with Brentford at the Macron Stadium on Monday night; they are the set to host the Bluebirds on Saturday.

Wanderers are £172.9m in debt and recently appointed Trevor Birch as an adviser to the board in order to ease a takeover from owner Eddie Davies.

In a statement on their website, the club said: "Bolton Wanderers Football Club can today, Monday 30 November, confirm that the first team playing squad are yet to receive their wages for the month of November.

"This is due to the ongoing situation surrounding the club's ownership off the field."

Birch added: "This is due to a short-term funding issue. We are working hard behind the scenes and hope to have this resolved in a quick and timely manner and I will be meeting the players tomorrow to update them."

On the field, things aren't much better for Neil Lennon's side. They are rock bottom of the Championship with 11 points from 17 games.

Lennon has said he won't walk away but has admitted he doesn't know whether he would take the same decision to join the club again, as he did in October 2014, given what has happened since.

Turmoil at the club comes eight years after Kevin Davies struck an 82nd‑minute equaliser to earn a 2-2 Uefa Cup draw against Bayern Munich – a team which included Franck Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Miroslav Klose – in the Allianz Arena.

Norm, I know many many Bolton fans and they really are distressed and feel they are already relegated.

The writing is on the wall for them, like it was for Blackpool last year. Very worrying that both were Premier League a very short time ago.

But they are about to have all that debt written off by the owner making them virtually debt free.

And in Trevor Birch they have a proper football man with great experience in restructuring football clubs who will almost certainly get them reorganised financially within months.

In contrast we have an owner who has reneged on his promise to convert his debt into shares and no-one at board level with football knowledge or the skills or experience of restructuring a football club.

Writing off all the debt will make it far easier to attract a new investor who will bring fresh cash in rather than it go to the existing owner. Trevor's job will be to bring in that investor ( I understand a few potential investors are already showing interest) as well as sorting out the football club so it is run more efficiently and doesn't make further unsustainable future losses.

As I said before CCFC can't do similar as it carries the burden of huge debt making it very unattractive for potential new investors and has no-one in charge with football financial skills

Is that true?

I hope even more that we never, ever go into administration then if they have to deal with our trust.

I think we should be OK with the Trust dealing with Administrators. After all , there is an Administrator on the Trust board who should know what he is doing :)

Yeah and have respect for you and your knowledge.

However, some of the other idiots would make us look complete Berks I think. You only have to look at the football league pollava.

Thanks for the compliment , but actually I have fellow Trust board members that have just as useful skills and even wider relevant contacts and influence than me in certain areas should the club face an Administration (which I dearly hope , as a fan , that it never will). For instance a fellow board member is on the Supporters Direct national board so has the ear of an organisation that represents many tens of thousands of football fans across the country and has political influence in its own right. Others have access to politicians local , national and up to and including House of Lords level. This again would be vital as Cardiff Council are the club`s landlords and would control who and on what terms a new owner could take a new lease on the stadium.

What's their supporters trust like? Full of shit like ours?

I don't know what their Supporters Trust is like but I do know that, if they were to go down the Administration route then, like any other League club, they will be the only supporters organisation who the Administrators are obliged to deal with

Maybe the person could get the football league rebrand issue brought up in the lords?
