PAPER TALK

Diego Costa's Chelsea future is under threat after hurling a bib at Jose Mourinho in the goalless draw with Spurs.

Liverpool will attempt to sign Stoke's Jack Butland for around £20m at the end of the season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been urged to play in Premier League by Sweden team-mate and West Brom defender Jonas Olsson.

Cristiano Ronaldo will join Paris Saint-Germain, not Manchester United, if he quits Real Madrid next summer.

Arsenal are the favourites to land the signature of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.

NO TRANSFER FOCUS FOR MCCLAREN

Steve McClaren says he’s focused on Newcastle’s relegation battle – and not the January transfer window.

“We can’t look to January,” he told the Newcastle Chronicle when asked if he already had transfer targets in mind. “It’s Liverpool next, then Spurs, then after that, then after that...

“We can’t think about January because we’ve got games, and we have to get to work [this week] and start winning games.

“We’re in a relegation battle, and we have to make sure that, however many teams are battling away in that with us, we’re the ones at the top of that pile.”

COSTA FUTURE IN DOUBT?

Diego Costa’s long-term future at Chelsea is now in doubt after he threw his bib at Jose Mourinho, according to the Daily Express.

Although the club have no plans to sell the Spain striker in January, they are reportedly willing to move him on at the end of the season, with former club Atletico Madrid one potential destination.

LVG KEEN ON SWISS STRIKER

Manchester United are considering a move for Basel teenager Breel Embolo, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 18-year-old forward has 26 goals and 18 assists since making his debut a year and a half ago, and Barcelona, Juventus and Arsenal are also reportedly tracking the Switzerland international.

BRIGHTON SIGN TOWELL

Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed a deal to sign Irish attacking midfielder Richie Towell.

The reigning Irish PFA Player of the Year will join Brighton from Dundalk on a two-and-a-half year deal. The move will go through when the transfer window opens in January.

"He had a lot of good options available for his next move; here in England, in Scotland, in Ireland with Dundalk and in Europe, so we are delighted he has decided to join us,” manager Chris Hughton said.

"He's played a full season since March, but has already made it clear he is keen to be ready to play in January, and keen to begin training with us as soon as possible.”
