The worst decision the EU has ever made

Sun Nov 29, 2015 9:43 pm

Turkey’s 75 million citizens will be given the right to travel to and within Europe without a visa next year after European Union leaders took a gamble yesterday that the country could solve the continent’s migration crisis.

A summit in Brussels made concessions to Turkey including an open-ended financial commitment — beginning with €3 billion in funding next year —and the reopening of talks on the country’s application for EU membership talks, despite fears the country is sliding into authoritarianism.

Correct this will push UK to vote out and they want to bring in other countries to help cover the lost UK funding

Turkey turning into an Islamist State and a hotbed for Jihadists. They will be pouring across the borders and make Europe a very dangerous place. Hope now the UK vote to come out of the EU as its gonna be our own death warrant if we don't.

What an effin joke! Turkey is where isis are going through! This is what Turkey president wants, to be a kind if Hitler. My God, we have to leave the EU! It's exactly what the terrorists want, free unhindered passage to kill us all. I am a Muslim born in Cardiff to an Irish mim and Indian dad who was in the Merchant Navy and worked on the railway. Then, it was about respecting the rule of law under the country you live in, now it's about a massive integrated movement to conquer Europe. THIS IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE BY EUROPE! What are our MP'S SAYING ABOUT THIS????

Yep, terrible decision brought on by the media and people.

People have died on their masses on earth for how long?.. This is no crisis. It is manageable if people didn't overreact to tragedies such as the little boy dying at sea.

3 million refugees have fled Syria - So we open the doors to 75 million Turkish immigrants.

Genius. Just genius.

I hope this get the coverage it deserves. UKIP are going to be all over it.

Quite odd that the BBC are yet to report it.

I looked under Middle East.

As Turkey is not a European country.

Not in my book anyway.

So Istanbul isn't in Europe then ?

Not for me. Not culturally or geographically.

I genuinely looked at middle east and the homepage and didn't see it.

I think the BBC is one of the most neutral news sites. It is impossible for them when people on both sides claim they're biased for normal reporting.

So Istanbul isn't in Europe then ?

Part of Istanbul is in Europe and the part on the other side of the Bosphorus is in Asia. On a whole I would say that Turkey should be treated as being in Asia. Less than 10% of the country is in Europe (the North West corner). It has the feel of an Asian country and they really have nothing in common with Europe. If they ever let Turkey into the EU or allow their citizens to freely travel within the EU then we are well and truly stuffed.

Granted and I take your thinking but you can't hide away from the fact that Istanbul is in Europe

Turkey (Ottoman empire) is a middle eastern country.

Don't care if Istanbul is closer to Europe. And their capital is even further away from Europe.

Its like the Israelis playing in the Euros. BS.

I'm unsure why you are singling Istanbul out. As the towns and cities that border Syria, Georgia, Iraq and Iran are also in Europe if you think Istanbul is.

Such as Dogubayazit, such a great European city.

Turkey on paper (by some, such as football tournaments) may be known as european country. But it never has and never will be one.

It is an Asian country.

The fact Ankara is the capital is because the founders of the Turkey didn't want to be related to the Imperial Istanbul/constantinople and the west.

I'm singling Istanbul out because it's the part of Turkey which is in Europe!!! I know Ankara is the capital but you are claiming that Istanbul isn't in Europe and you are completely wrong

Re: The worst decision the EU has ever made

It's a matter of opinion. I don't think they are a part of Europe.

It isn't black and white.

It is Eurasia or whatever they call it.

Ankara is its Capital city, and Ankara is in Asia. Apart from Istanbul, the entire country is in Asia.

Mount Erebus in Georgia is considered to be the highest peak in Europe, and Georgia is far to the east of Anatolian Turkey.

My mistake, Mt Elbrus and its in the Russian Caucasus but still east of Turkey. Russia is an oddball. With the majority of its landmass in Asia its culture is predominantly European. But the Caucasus is usually considered Europe and its east of most of the Turkish landmass.

Do I care about fkin Istanbul?

I said Turkey is not European.

And that is my opinion.

Re: The worst decision the EU has ever made

Mon Nov 30, 2015 3:18 pm

Politically it is European,

but in my esteeeeeeemed opinon it is not:

Straddling the continents of Europe and Asia, Turkey tries to be a bridge between West and East. The portion of Turkey's land in Europe may be small (about 5 percent), but the country's largest city, Istanbul, is there. With nearly 13 million people, Istanbul is the third most populous European urban area, after Moscow and Paris.

Well stop trying to change the facts. Yes we all know about the history, culture and everything else but we all know the map of Europe too and for you to say that Turkey isn't in Europe when even if only a small percentage of it is then you are factually wrong. Just like you were wrong about your claim about the BBC!! As I said earlier a conspricy theory nut job :laughing6:

Re: The worst decision the EU has ever made

Mon Nov 30, 2015 3:52 pm

If Istanbul is "factually in Europe."

Then Ankara is "factually in Asia"

Re: The worst decision the EU has ever made

Mon Nov 30, 2015 4:01 pm

Do you understand the concept of IN MY OPINION.

Give me your little "facts" or whatever. A large amount of people, including Turkish people, do not think Turkey is European because the vast majority of the country lies in Asia And the Capital city is in Asia.

Just because some person tells you a "fact" mate, you don't have to think it is true    When someone says it is a fact, that doesn't people aren't allowed to debate it.

Could you please give me the source to where you find the "fact" on where Europe begins and where Europe ends?. Who drew this map up please and when?.

And, could you please give me a few more facts and explain to me where Libya lies as a country?.

Re: The worst decision the EU has ever made

Mon Nov 30, 2015 4:54 pm

Are you so thick not to understand that I actually agree with most your points regarding the vast majority of Turkey is in Asia, the culture is different etc as this isn't the first time I mentioned this. However bearing in mind in your opinion the BBC didn't mention this and it was clearly proven that they had then I'm sure that your opinion about Istanbul counts for shit really doesn't it. Pmsl.
