" Slade damned if he does damned if he doesn't"

If he had picked Manga and we didn't win someone would have moaned that he shouldn't have dropped Connolly or Morrison.

If he had left Jones on and we didn't win someone would have moaned that he was knackered and should have come off and leaving him on cost us the win.

If he had brought the only midfielder left on the bench (Kennedy) for a striker and put Whitts in the middle and we didn't win people would have moaned that Whitts was in the middle and this cost us the win. Or that sitting back with 5 in midfield encouraged Burnley to push on and one striker meant the ball wasn't getting held up in attack.

Similarly if he brought Manga on for a striker and we didn't win then someone would have moaned that too many defenders cost us the win. Again losing a striker would mean we couldn't hold the ball up.

If we had pushed forward and conceded someone would have moaned that this cost us the win.

Either way he would have got stick from our moaning fans. He's damned if he does damned if he doesn't.

He's happy with Slade and Tan but then he never watches the games apparently.
Each to their own.

Performance yesterday was good was it not? The last 5 minutes cost us the 3 points we deserved.

The criticism he receives is unjust and are things that he cannot and does not have any impact on and a change in manager wouldn't change anything in my opinion.

Atmosphere has been poor for years, ironically apart from the two and a half seasons we were playing in red.

It's down to Slades piss poor management, yes we played better but when Burnley scored and he takes Jones off for another striker instead of putting a defender on to shut up shop, Burnley were well up for it in the last quarter of the game (when slade changed the team, I can understand Watt going off, but Gunnarsson for okeefe? Then Jones for Macheda? Wtf was slade thinking :sladeout:

Totally agree with this comment. However I believe that Slade has done a good job in cutting costs and stabalizing squad he has taken us as far as he can. His biggest failure is the lack of plan b. He must realise that 4-4-2 can't work every game with the squad we have.

I might be wrong, but I think Manga is the best player at the club. Its controversial not playing him, not to name him on the sheet. It makes me wonder how long Manga will settle behind less gifted players..
In my book Slade is damned either way, what ever he does. But that is down to being an inept lying poor excuse of a manager..

If he put a defender on for a striker he would be inviting Them onto us.

Neil,
All Ive got to say is that I believe Slade listens to much to Tan on the players, what the fans say on forums and gets very upset with the media, after 700 games being a manager in the lower leagues, I would of thought all this would go over his head, but then he has never before in his career faced such publicity and as big a club as us and an owner like ours

So what I am saying is,that the pressure of all the above at our club is to much for him, in my opinion :ayatollah:

The trouble is he done nothing to see we was being over run in midfield not even at 2-1 let alone 2-2 if 1000s can see it in the stands then I can see why people are pissed off. It's not about ifs and buts with the subs it's about why didn't the manager see what was comming when normal fans could just watching the game we clearly needed another midfield player for the last ten minutes after Burnley done subs it was always comming :bluescarf:

Another five minutes of injury time we would have got beat up untill Burnley changed there system we was in controlling so there are positive things from the game untill then that's for sure.

A lot of if's in your posting, the bottom line is that we threw that game away in the last 10 minutes, and a lot of fans thought Slade's late substitutions contributed to loosing 3 points

I'm not referring to anyone in particular I'm referring to the date and league position. That was 16th and less points and further from play offs than now.

I said in a post last week i thought we may do well against Burnley as they play 442 and we do pretty good against 442's.(Slicker, even with Whitts in the middle ;) ) but as soon as they changed (due to necessity) we have no repost...It's been the same since Slade has been with us !!!!!!

You obviously weren't at the game yesterday. We were not poor for the last 5 minutes and excellent for the rest of it. We pretty much dropped off after the second goal and had our backs to the wall for the last 20 minutes.

Burnley changed their formation and Slade didn't react, that's why people don't like him. He is tactically inept and not good enough for this level. If we hadn't invited all that pressure, I very much doubt that those goals would have been conceded in the last few minutes.

And Manga is a class above Morrison, always will be. :sladeout:
