Cardiff City 2-2 Burnley

Lack of concentration pays the price

It's very hard to understand how we just threw away a very comfortable 2-0 lead in such a short space of time.

City dominated most of the game & finally showed some team spirit & commitment throughout the game, but all that hard work was thrown away with minutes remaining as Burnley scored twice in the dying moments of the game.

Before the game I would have been more than happy with a draw but under the circumstances I'm absolutely gutted.

Because the fool decided to make stupid changes. :sladeout:

We all know the answer, Slade is totally inept at this level

It's called Football if you can't defend you won't win and a game is over when the referee whistles full time simples :sladeout:

Its not hard to understand city never play to the final whistle if they are winning with a few mins left they always are defending ive said this before whats the best way of defending? If the play is in opponents half they cant score but city play ten at the back . :sladeout: :old:

Correct we all knew with 4 minutes left what would happen

City played well, when your frustrations of dealing with two late goals subside you will appreciate how well we actually played against a side with 5 wins and and 3 draws in 8. Am all for :sladeout: but today he had to replace watt and it wasn't slade who lost that. Burnley and dyche never give up hence recent results, they put us under and we buckled. Simple as that. I for one will be more than happy with performances like that every week where we tried to play.

Craig noone though, just can't beat a man.

Spot on, why change things when on top :ayatollah:

Re: ' HARD TO UNDERSTAND '

Because the main striker is gone after 75 min. The second striker was shagged after 60 mins. His replacement is like having a red card because he offers so little.

I just don't get slade, add another body into midfield rather than Mason, Kennedy and push Whitts inside more, then bring Macheda on earlier.

minutes to go winning the game burnley chucking everyone forward
and Slade brings on a forward 2 still up front rather than defender of midfielder shocking

Terrible defending at the end for their equaliser.

Watch it again and imagine the Benny Hill music as the soundtrack.

Four goals conceded in the last two games - if I were Manga and I am not selected for the Bolton game I would be telling my agent to find me a new club in January.

So someone says shouldn't have made changes, someone else says Jones should have been off earlier.

He can't win.

I bet as soon as it went 2 1 the fans were right on the team's back?

Actually not. Plenty of encouragement to help motivate the team to hold on for the win.

There's many reasons why we didn't end up with all 3 points, the main one being a lack of concentration.

Gunnarsson was clearly knackered too - unfortunately Dickajoi was unavailable so we had to make d o with Okeefe, who isn't as good as the rest of our midfield

Also, no one seems to have given credit to Slade for playing Ralls in the middle and Whittingham out wide, which worked much better for the team :ayatollah: :sladein:

Worked perfectly and must remain, a lot of unfair criticism tonight if we had won 2-1 would have been praise. Fine lines and frustrated fans, good performance  :sladeout:

Re: ' HARD TO UNDERSTAND '

I cannot judge if it was a good performance or not. I was not there and had no way of listening to the game.

I would have taken a draw before the game but to let a 2 goal lead slip in the last 5 minutes makes a draw a very disappointing score. It is no good playing well only to throw it away in a short spell of time.

I agree it always feels like defeat, we played some decent stuff at times in awful weather Burnley didn't really do much until the last ten or fifteen minutes, bit of a killer :sad7:

100% agree with this analogy!

Sadly, as much as I try to give him a little credit for the hand he's been dealt under Vincent Tan's financial regress, Russell Slade showed his naivety AGAIN today...

Who in their right mind takes of a striker with minutes to go and replaces him with another striker who hasn't played for months?!

Surely, Manga (at that point) was the answer to shore up a tired defence?

Would have accepted a draw against 10 man Burnley (seems Joey Barton didn't turn up! :laughing6: ) but a good display from Cardiff City for 85 minutes should have given us a deserved win and to muck it up (polite version ;) ) like that just emphasises that we will go nowhere this season without a change of manager!

Sadly, that won't happen, so we are left with a full 90 minutes of entertainment every week! ;)

It was good to see Ralls in the middle but Slade just cannot bring himself to drop Whittingham can he?

Now that Ralls has proven that he can take a decent free kick amd corner (our only chance of scoring at the moment), why is Slade still insistent on starting Whitts in every game?

Witts should be a squad player now, Ralls has come of age

Agree, doesn't make sense. Shows Slade's ineptitude.

Taxi for Slade

Disappointing to let a two goal lead slip, but a lot of us would have taken a point before the game. It's another point in the bag towards that 50 point marker. Twenty four more points required from twenty eight games, and I think that has to be the first target. I still think we are on target for a mid table finish which is where I firmly believed we would end up before the season began.

I don't think we'll be relegated this season.

Nor me but always good to hit that 50 point target as early as possible. Witnessed too many relegation fights over the years, and although we are looking comfortable right now, a few bad results and you are suddenly looking over your shoulder at those teams below while losing confidence at the same time. I can't see us finishing below 15th, and I think we may finish just above half way if we can get a goal scorer in.
