Charlton interim coach in the dark over striker's future

Thu Nov 26, 2015 5:50 pm

Karel Fraeye could not confirm whether striker Tony Watt will continue as a Charlton Athletic player following his loan move to Cardiff City.

The Scotsman completed a temporary move to south Wales last week in a bid to increase his fitness after an injury.

Fraeye will now give a chance for youngster Ademola Lookman to make an impression alongside Simon Makienok and Ricardo Vaz Te.

"I don't know at this moment, he's on loan until January and then the club will take another decision," the interim head coach said at his pre-match press conference when asked about Watt's future.

We get good contact and we're still in contact with Tony, so the club will see what the future brings

"I don't want to talk too much about the situation but it's clear that he wants to play and needs to play. When Cardiff came in the decision was taken that he could go there on loan.

"Tony has got all the skills to be a very good striker in the Championship.
