When a Russian plane full of Russians was blown up over Egypt by a group associated with IS he's going to want to take action. He found out that Turkey was directly funding the very organisation that killed his people by buying oil off them. He began bombing groups of people associated with IS and it's oil trails. Turkey didn't like it so shot down a Russian plane.
