" AMBITION? INTEREST? WHERE IS IT? "
For me/This shows Lack of Interest/Ambition and Shows me we are Going No where under Vincent Tan and Russell Slade
No I don't want to get further in to debt, but if you want to keep the crowds or improve them, you have to show ambition,in some way or another.
Vincent Tan Said he would back Slade this Summer and so on, so please can some one tell me where he has?
For me its all bullshit that Cardiff City fans get told.
All we have done in the last year is loan 14 players out, give quality strikers away and bring 14 players in, where only 2 at most are played on a regular basics.
The football is dire and the fans are voting with their feet by staying away in there thousands.
The atmosphere is awful.
Vincent Tan does not even come to watch the crap served up by his own manager.
And what do we do? we sign player after player who is not even good enough to play in our team, which is a fact.
They don't back Slade, wich in my opinion is they don't believe in him.
So what does all this tell you?
Honest opinions on Tan/Slade and Citys future?

Correct,
I read a stat the other day, of all slades signings they have made a total of 34 appearances between them, of which 14 have been made by peltier alone!
Nobody wants us to get more into debt but a statement of Intent and some ambition would certainly get more bums on seats thus justifying a bit of out lay! The parachute payments we are still receiving, where are they actually going? Surely they have helped towards the cost cutting!
It looks to me that we are going to win a couple and lose a couple and finish again in a similar position to last season! That is not going to make people think , I can't wait to renew again for next season! For the club to move on we either need a new owner, which I can't see happening at the moment or a good proven manager who can work with what we have and have a bit of pulling power from the prem league to get some loaned talent in! Some prem clubs are just happy for their players to get game time and generally contribute towards the wage, unlike champ clubs who just want the loan club to foot the wage bill!
Our failure last minute to not land bridcutt shows we don't have the pulling power to attract a certain calibre of player!
Thu Nov 26, 2015 9:09 am
There is a general apathy about and around the club. Most fans have lost interest in the club, I don't think fans really care that much anymore, more important things in life to worry about i guess. Spoke to a couple of ex city fans in Merthyr the other night, they said they both save the money they use to spend on watching the city everywhere home and away, and spend it in three trips to Anfield each season
Thu Nov 26, 2015 9:18 am
Depends who the striker is we sign today.
Thu Nov 26, 2015 9:37 am
People are getting too used to the big spending of recent times ,wasn't so long ago that we never bought a player and sold anyone good

Change to blue the crowds will come back.
Change the badge the crowds will come back.
Spend money the crowds will come back.
It's always something else. The crowds will return if we are winning and consistently at the top of the table.

Exactly. Under Sam we sold Kavanagh for 300k. A fifth of what he was worth. Under the Riddler we sold Gunter for peanuts. Under Tan we get value for players if not a bit over their value.

I think all your points have a degree of validity apart from the one above.
That isn't a fact. Given the current squad he only has to be better than Mason to be "good enough" to play in our team and I would be surprised if he isn't
The biggest thing for me is the lack of transparency. If they would just come out and say "we have to reduce costs to get back within FPP guidelines and avoid future sanctions" I think a lot of people would accept that, write off this season and then hope that by doing the hard/painful cutting now we will be able to move forward in the future. However, without any dialogue we can only think the worst and that Tan is just trying to cut his losses with a view to getting out.
I really don't have a problem if the club are trying to get on a sound financial footing. The problem is that in doing so they are further reducing their income (smaller crowds).
They could limit the flak they are getting quite easily by just explaining to us what the short, medium and long term plans are. Very few of us want to go back to the Sam/Riddler/PMG days but we would want to know what we can expect in the future.

Tottenham paid £4mil in 2008, that's good money

Just shows how poor we are run though compared to say Norwich!
Came down same season as us! Didn't cull the squad and kept the nucleus of the team together, sold out the stadium and had ambition to return straight back up! Was struggling and the manager admitted he was out of his depth, stepped down and in came the new guy! Went on a fantastic run and got promoted straight back up! Weve had a full season of cost cutting already! We don't have that many huge earners and the parachute payments are there to help with that! Hence the reason for them! We will have to keep cost cutting if the crowds are low as the revenue is not there! Success will be the only way to fill the ground as pointed out! Look at Pompey and Plymouth, both having crowds bigger than ours at the moment! Success will only come if we improve the team! How can we improve if we have to rid the club of players! All of the players Slade brought in can't be on much and need to be moved on! Another expense to us was paying up contracts for players instead of looking to get some form of a fee for them! They way we are at the moment is that we will just continue on this path for quite some time unless changes are made!
Either tan stumping up cash in January to improve the squad or write off another season and we will have de javu next season! Parachute payments will eventually stop we've had 2 years already, then I feel we will be in a worse position than when we first entered the championship!!

Good post Annis, happy birthday btw
The relationship between Tan & fans is broken beyond repair. No apology for the rebrand and to top it all, no footballing interest to employ a progressive/sharp manager that could of kept the fans interested in the team by playing good football, making better cheap signings, possibly having a bit more favours in the TM as an influential manager.
Tan was only interested in Slade's track record of signing players for NOTHING, not moaning and being a pleasant man to work with.
It's just boring, and in my opinion it didn't have to be this way getting the club sustainable as a business
Thu Nov 26, 2015 10:44 am
They killed the brand and the clubs identity.
How often do you see huge rebrands in big business? Rarely ever. As the brand is the main asset to the business.
The main thing keeping the fans interested is the communal love of the club and its history.
I think they now know this. It's too late.
Only glory hunters in the premier league will save their tenure.

Right now we are clearing up the mess from the free spending these last few years and stabilise is the priority at the moment not what you would like to hear but there it is but we are still competing.

Hard to add anything you have summed everything up very well , all very disappointing . But one thing for sure someone needs to charge the team selection, the way we set ourselves up and the way we play because what we are watching now is woeful.

Tan has a lot of business interests around the world, and I don't think that we are high on his list of priorities any more. He appears to have lost interest in this particular venture, and I believe he is trying to get as much of his investment back as possible before cutting his losses and moving on. I think he will look back on this experience as a learning curve, and won't be sorry when he is finally in a position to cut all links with this side of his business.

That is exactly whats happening I think.
When he sells up we'll have another rebrand as that worm will be gone.

No they didn`t.
Spurs paid £1.2m up front for Chris Gunter , a figure which could have doubled (but it didn`t as he didn`t play enough for them before moving on) based on appearances etc for them.

The problem is too many sell our club to the world as a big club, we are not. 14K average is where we were 10 years ago, thats our size. Sam put ideas of grandeur into our heads and we lapped up the debt. The debt that sent us to the courthouse more the once, the debt that led to the dictator (or radical thinker if you are an insider) that is Tan.
We sold our soul to the devil and reaping what we sowed... We have never had ambition and my memories of 6K at NP show me there has always been fluctuating interest.... Before but even during the Sams awakening we sold Blake, Ginge, Gabbidon,Kav, Rambo, Gunther and many more, but we bitch that a shit 1st division player has been loaned out.
Slade has stopped the potential calamity that may have happened. A series of poor decisions by Tan caused our current issues, but without his ambition we never would have been in that situation to start with.
I believe as much as we dislike whats happening it needs to happen. It would have been madness for a young inexperianced manager to take charge in such a hectic situation, it needed an old head. Yes he is limited, but Slade has stopped us heading for league 1. We need to see out this season, get rid of the expensive players that do not create value and set up a good platform for the next manager, for a crack at it next season.
Sorry, this is not the party line for this forum, but we are in a better position than we were 20 years ago, so most of the moaning is unfounded.

When we were 2nd at one point near the beginning of the season, I was in a club in town and all the lads outside in the smoking area got everyone out there singing City songs. Now we're slipping down the table, they're not to be seen.
Winning games will bring crowds back. Simple as that.

Can say lacking ambition but at end day its results that get crowds in! And tbh at present that's mixed but going on league position if that's improved after Xmas period fans will start to believe and crowds will improve! Really can't have cake and eat it concerning debt and spending on players?
Thu Nov 26, 2015 2:47 pm
I'd much rather the club give a philosophy instruction to Slade on bringing through more of our younger players in the developmental and academy squads rather than spending fees and wages on the players he brings in. Although his players aren't much of a risk in terms of cost, it's a drain of resources on bringing through our own players.

Totally agree with you Annis. there is no ambition at all shown by the club.
how do they really think fans will turn up and commit to the club if their are no signs of intent from the club?
I persoanlly have never been interested in debt levels, I want us to take risks and get some excitement going and ambition.
even the way we are playing is boring and safe.

We had no ambition years ago or money but what we did have is fight in the team and fans behind the team 100% and manager 100% now we have neither really that's what modern football is now.
Fans want it all and the cherry on top. Imo we are going to see more cost cutting next season once players contracts are up come may and there left to go.
Others will be sold who will bring money in and the players signed by slade will be playing im guessing as most are out on loan as we speak. Call it the cheaper option or call it no ambition that's how we are going imo.
