Slade on a top six finish...

20/11/2015

It’s always been the aim for a top six finish and the players are buying into that.
If we can find the right couple of players who can add to us then I’m sure we will. I talk to the owner chief executive all the time.
If we can we will look to strengthen it’s important now to maintain some momentum that keeps us in hunt for promotion.
Slad is asked if he’s jealous of Derby’s spending power...

Derby's spending

Yeah, they have invested heavily. But my focus is on what we are doing and are about.
I’ts great they ate having a serious go at it. They have flexed their muscles and shown their intent.
The new players they have are talented and you pay a premium for those.
You have to look to see what players can improve you.

Surely he should be saying a top 2 finish as a top 6 means nothing unless you win play offs which is a lottery?

The "if we can we will look to strengthen" suggests that either the funds required may not be available, or the players needed may not be available at the time. I don't think there is any doubt that if we are to challenge. additional quality is needed. Without that, we have very little chance of mounting a serious challenge for a play off place.

That was always the aim but if we get into the top six round about now then even top 2 is a possibility.
