Slade on midfield conundrum...

By Alex Bywatet

20/11/2015

So who will play in midfield against Derby?

Slade answers the big questions...

Peter Whittingham is available. There’s always been competition in midfield.
I will not name the team.

It’s possible Peter will be playing. Long term I see Joe as a central midfielder, but he’s flexible and enjoying his football.
And it can be about doing a job for the team. Whatever position he’s in he does an outstanding job.
It’s a nice problem to have.

Kagisho Dikgacoi is available too now. He played on Tuesday.

Where is Ralls' best position?

He will end up playing in a narrow position on the left or central and I think that’s where he will be in the end.

Was there interest in Ralls?

Slade denies he penned Ralls to a new deal because of interest from other clubs...

There will always will be interest. He had 18 months left on his contract so there was no imminent problem.
There was no threat of people coming in for him. He knows where his future lies.
If Premier League clubs come looking they’ll be aware he has long-term contract and they will have to pay the price for the product at that particular time.

Slade on Joe Ralls...

Slade has his say on Joe Ralls after he penned a new Cardiff City deal...

Joe has made great strides. He’s got himself in the team on a regular basis.
I’m delighted with his progress, that’s why he has new contract. He always wanted to stay, he’s enjoying it here.
He’s young, but maturing. I’m delighted to secure him for a long time.
There is so much more to come from him, he’s at a great age.
If he keeps his feet on the ground his value will rise. It could be massive.

Great to have the situation whereby we can select one or the other or both!

Teams will be envious of us and on paper our squad is very good.

Just that little tweaking and we could be a top 2 side. Need to get striker who will have pace, power and know where the net is :ayatollah:

I interprete that as whitts will start personally.

Big whitts fan but the side was in desperate need of freshening up, he was forced into it - and it worked. He should stick with the winning formula at Reading and whitts can fight for his place.

Ffs Slade, keep the same team. Thought Reading match was a big improvement on our previous outings. Bringing back Digashwee and Whittingham will just slow our movement down again.

I agree. Even though I'm a big Whitts fan I would keep things the same as the Reading match.

I doubt it he's one of our only two strikers int he? We've gone from one extreme to the other in terms of forwards

I think we've gone from one extreme to the other in going backwards, not forwards
