For the record, I'm a fan of Whittingham. But going by reports from the Reading game, I wasn't there so can't comment personally, Ralls was very good so deserved to stay there. I don't think they'd with together in the middle.
A five man midfield would be good as Dikgacoi and Gunnarsson can do the dirty work and allow Ralls, Noone and Pilkington to get forward.
Bet Slade will play 4-4-2 though.

I'd play a different formation than Slade but hey ho, he's going to go 4-4-2. Therefore, this would be my team selection (considering injuries too):
GK - David Marshall
RB - Lee Peltier
RCB - Sean Morrison
LCB - Matt Connolly
LB - Scott Malone
RM - Craig Noone
RCM - Kagisho Dikgacoi
LCM - Joe Ralls
LM - Anthony Pilkington
RS - Kenwyne Jones
LS - Joe Mason
Basically the same team vs Reading but Dikgacoi in for Gunnarsson. I can't see how we can change this starting XI much though. If Slade's gonna play 4-4-2 then I can only see these players being the main options.

You and I both know that Slade does not have the tactical ability to select anything like your team, sad to say

If we play 4-4-2 then Derby have the quality to put a few on us

Kenwyne Jones wasn't even back with the squad when Slade did his pre-Derby press conference this morning.
He's not injured, but it sounded as if he was just off the plane.
All Slade would say was that Kenwyne would be in the 'group of 19' travelling to Derby.
I hope he starts, but there has to be a strong chance that he will only be on the bench.
I don't have much confidence in Joe Mason playing up front alone (can't hold the ball and hasn't got much pace - however 'clever' his movement) and it wasn't convincing when he was paired with Sammy Ameobi. If Kenwyne isn't right to start the options are limited, but I would like to see 4-3-3 with Noone, Mason and Pilks in front of Gunnar, Ralls and Dikgacoi. The back 4 pick themselves.

Worrying if Jones isn't available to start. Neither Ameobi or Mason are capable of playing the lone striker role and together they didn't look too promising either.

If it's 4-4-2 then he must start the same team IMO, but I think Derby will have too much quality if we don't 'pack' the midfield

Agree! It should be a 4-5-1 with Dicgakoi, Ralls, Gunnar, Pilkington and Noone or Kennedy. I don't buy the argument that It would be too defensive. There's more than enough attacking talent in that little lot to cause Derby significant problems.

I like your team Tonteg and would be all in favour at home, but for a difficult away game like today would you not maybe substitute Dikgacoi for Noone to start so as to put Derby on the back foot? However as the game progresses a more attacking midfielder could always be slot in later.
