Niggly injuries testing the patience of Russell Slade

“We won’t be seeing Idriss again until January at least and it is very frustrating to be honest,” said Slade.

The pursuit of a fresh face has been made all the keener by the departure of Revell and by yet another set-back to Cardiff’s latest arrival in the forward department, Idriss Saadi.

Saadi, who signed from French Second Division side Clermont in September, finally made his Bluebirds’ debut when he came off the bench in the win over Reading last time out. But it emerged later the 23-year-old had torn his hamstring and will now be absent for what looks like a minimum of six weeks. It is the latest setback to Saadi’s career at his new club.

Last month he picked up an injury as he worked back to match fitness in a Development game for Cardiff. It all comes after he suffered a serious cruciate injury over in France in January.

That seems to be behind him, but the new niggly injuries are testing the patience of boss Slade, who recently saw his men go more than nine hours in the Championship without actually putting the ball in the net themselves.

“We won’t be seeing Idriss again until January at least and it is very frustrating to be honest,” said Slade.

“He came on against Reading and I thought he looked very decent for us, he gave us a threat, in fact, he almost scored within a minute of being on the pitch.

“So this latest injury is a set-back for sure, but, as we always do, we will work our way through it and stay positive.”

It's something we already know, and having had problems with my hamstrings in my youth you date risk it or your out again if it pops. Frustrating for him and us, easy to say know but he wasn't ready. :sad7:

Slade should've known better, he was rushed back too quickly.

100% because his job was on the line with no goals being scored or he was selected because he was under pressure from above. Either way, crazy :sad7:

What is it about Cardiff recruiting unfit players or players that have fitness issues ...... and taking weeks and weeks to get over any new injuries

Like Paul said, we were 2-0 up, Saadi didn't necessarily need to come on.

That's true, but then surely that's more of a reason to keep him on the bench. Maybe desperate before the match, but game was won the pitch was heavy it was high tempo. All iffs and butts. What I will say is with the amount of time he had out he should have at least had a few development games.

It wasn't gradual though, he was rushed back and hurt himself within 10 minutes
