You won't be complaining when they're paying the taxes to support your pension and public services.

No need to have a pop at student here, parasites is massively harsh statement. And why would you be happy students are no longer supporting Cardiff? Surely encouraging them is the right way to go about it, new wave of fans etc. At least the seats will be full then and there will be younger generation following us. These student are future doctors, lawyers, bankers, accountants, teachers and will only benefit the society we live in. Nonsensical post.

Good luck to them, jealousy will get you nowhere.

Uni is a piss take. I don't blame anyone for taking their chance and going. They'll take anyone on now. I didnt get the grades to go to the place I wanted. I rang up Cardiff met/UWIC and said I've got these turd A level results, what can we do?. They basically offered me any place in whichever category I wanted. And I didnt even have the grades for plenty of the places they offered.
I'd say about 2 of every 10 students actually gave a shit about work during my time there.
You go into it thinking I want to study etc. By half way through the first term its just about going out and passing your tests by the skin of your teeth.
We were going out Monday, Tuesday & Thursday every single week. Sometimes 4 days on the trot. I was in hell of a shape - Which is why Im glad it is long gone.
In my course everyone cheated during the exams as well. It was easy. Coursework - Everyone copies.

That's a little harsh, fella. We all know 'students' on courses that won't ever help them get jobs in that sphere are a means to keeping the unemployment figures artificially low, so I guess they're doing their bit for society (even though most won't appreciate that)
Wed Nov 18, 2015 1:52 pm
You won't be saying the same when a former student is saving your life when your ill or helping you out should end up in court etc.
Wed Nov 18, 2015 2:07 pm
Most students are parasites and go to uni to get pissed and shag every night. There are so many stupid courses that there isn't enough jobs for these idiots to go into so they spend the rest of their lives working in some downtrodden 15k a year job banging on about how they have this wonderful degree.
We give them all these benefits whilst the elderly and disabled are treated like shit.

It really is based on greed.
And that is all it is about.
Getting as many people in to as much debt as possible, as early as possible.

A large percent of students end up in jobs where they hardly pay these days. There are far too many students these days
Wed Nov 18, 2015 2:48 pm
If people want to further their education then they have to pay for it. Plain and simple IMO

i wonder how many posters will be spouting all this rubbish if/when their kids go to uni
Are you all going to discourage them from attaining a degree ?

Depends what the degree is in. If it's something like American studies or 80% of the shite taught at UWIC then yes. They will not be going to university on a three year jolly. My mates son is in uni currently, he gets a month off at christmas, a month at easter and a four month summer holiday. Surely they can condense these courses down to two years and save on all the holidays.

laughable isn't it. Degrees shouldn't guarantee anyone a job but it does help them to be able have computing skills, makes them confident people which of course benefits a persons' life regardless how much they earn.

I do agree the courses on offer has gone OTT, my brother has a degree and he is not a bright spark by any stretch, his sports science degree was a 3 year stretch (sorry bro)
The OP does not really consider just how important Aberystwyth Uni is to the community, without the student £££'s the town would suffer massively.

If my children had wanted to go to university we would have funded and encouraged them. My son chose to do an apprenticeship and work in the construction industry, my daughter passed her A levels in Science, maths and IT and has chosen a local college course which has a good record of supplying students into the finance industry. I have done courses with the open university over several years. You don't have to move away to study, and most courses don't lead to jobs because employers don't respect the course or the persons desire to do it. Most employers now think more of working people who take part time courses or the open university, it shows independence and a willing to study of your own accord. It strikes me as strange that all the maths, science, medical, engineering, construction and English courses are under subscribed in university while the media studies and sports science courses are full to the brim.

Hear f*cking hear oldman the old guard wouldn't put up with student types in the ccs if they was around now

Hows the notches in your oak walking stick these days anymore added to it for student bashing of late

Did they have student discount for ticket prices to watch in your day

Love how all students on this post are being stereotyped. You're right in many just go for a 3 year piss up but many do actually want to do well in the future and chose a good degree? (Believe I did anyway

)
And the point about students not attending games no more now we're not in the Prem, that's a load of shit!

No new battle scars on my stick or blood stains on my brass handle sadly. I have also noticed a sharp decline in youngsters at games. When we were in the Premier league the stadium was infested with English students but loyalty is not a students strong point and thus they have gone.
