" Latest News on Declan John "

Just spoke to a reporter who was at the Wales Under 21 win the other night, he said Declan was outstanding and it was like watching a player on a far superior level :ayatollah:

I saw the highlights and Declan was very sharp and did some great runs down the wing :ayatollah:

Declan plays again tonight :thumbright:

For me City need youth and players who are up for it and want to play for us and of course pace and quality which Declan has :thumbright: :thumbright:

In a way, he is. Declan has played PL and full international football. His career seems to be drifting at the moment, though.

Declan & Kennedy were comfortably the best 2 players on the pitch in a recent "development" team match...which included the captain of Iceland.

Should have been sent out at the start of the season, needs games to show if he is good enough.

He's better than Malone!

Frustrated he hasn't really been given an opportunity!

Re: " Latest on Declan John "

i think the problem is, because John is a homegrown player, everyone wants him to be a success, so people keep saying he should be playing, hes better than what we got, truth is he aint. otherwise other clubs would of come sniffing, sadly, from everything i seen in about 5 years time he might be a championship player, but at the moment hes league one at best

Malone average, but a side in the championship won't be littered with tremendous players. Taylor was decent enough but had his flaws but was part of the team. Would love to see Declan excel like most but not seen enough to suggest he can. Fabio and peltier are the best two full backs right now.

yes he played 20 odd premier league games but so did Andrew taylor but hes not that good!

declan john is okay player he is not better than fabio or peltier imo and therefore shouldn't be in the defence.

to me he isnt better than the wingers we play either.. if anyone should be starting as a winger it should be kennedy he showed more than john has ever shown last season.

id happily sell him or atleast loan him out and see how he gets on if he was that good surely a club would of come in for him because i cant see why cardiff would want to keep him at the moment if he isnt playing

I seem to remember people on here saying Collins,Gabidon,Ramsey,Ledley,Gunter,Matthews and Falls were ordinary? Give the youngsters a chance and they will come good? No wonder Bellamy and Bale joined English clubs?

Nobody ever said Ramsey was ordinary!! He was destined for massive things even in his teens. Ledley had a great reputation leaving here and Gabbidon also was seen to be a fantastic player.

The others though I'd say were and still are ordinary pros. Ralls has started the season fantastically well but what has he done before this year? Jury's still out on that one.

Think you'd have to dig pretty hard to find anyone saying Ramsey was ordinary. Even when he was 17 breaking into the side it was widely agreed he was something special.

Whilst i'd love Declan to be good enough to be first choice the fact is at the moment he has better players ahead of him (both as a full back and as a winger.)

He is still young though and I do think he will come good but can't blame Slade for playing his best XI and at the moment Dec is probably 4th/5th choice full back.

I certainly wouldn't play him over Fabio or Peltier at the moment and Malone had earned his place in the side before he got injured with a string of good performances.

That puts him in competition with Tamas should we have an injury crisis

If he was to play on the wing you've still got Noone, Pilkington, Ameobi and Kennedy as direct wingers ahead of him plus Slade's preferace to play a Ralls on the left as well.

Just can't see how he can break into the side this season so think a loan for the rest of the season is best option all round.

Well said.

Everyone is an expert on Declan, but how many have seen him play in the last 2 years ? He may have matured greatly as a player - a player who was good enough to play regularly in the premier as an 18 year old.

Very good post and spot on, we want Declan to succeed but not at the expense of the team

He needs to be playing football. His performance against Armenia was excellent! :ayatollah:

Deserves a place on the bench or be playing for another club on loan. Don't want him leaving us permanently. He's so quick and needs to be nurtured the correct way.

Best of luck to him! :thumbright:
