Generally been considered one when it comes to football.
I'll still consider Scotland a home nation when they go independent - which is inevitable at some point in the next 10 years.

Republic of Ireland advanced to UEFA Euro 2016 following a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday night in Dublin. Coupled with last week's 1-1 draw in the first leg, Ireland completed a 3-1 aggregate win.
Jonathan Walters was the hero, scoring both goals as the hosts clinched a second straight berth in the European Championship. Walters broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after a controversial handball decision from referee Bjorn Kuipers. The Stoke City man then sealed the result with a 70th-minute volley to send the hosts to France next summer.
"I couldn't be more proud of this team," manager Martin O'Neill told Sky Sports (h/t BBC Sport). "I hold the players in the highest esteem. They don't have everything, but courage and determination are things they have in abundance."

They are not British.
Couldn't care less about them.

Couldn't give a flying f**k

I love watching them play myself.
Their lack of big stars and their spirit and never say die attitude. Their fans are brilliant and will add a lot to the Euros.

It shows how my much easier it is to qualify with 24 nations? Do you think this side with 2 World class players is as good as the sides that lost in the play offs when only 16 qualified or Terry Yoraths side who got to the last 8 of the euros?

Better than Hughes' side but not better than '93 team

The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have both done well to qualify, like ourselves, even if it is much easier with 24 finalists. Can't get excited about either Irish team, though. Their fans are hard work, too.

Not a home nation at all.
Only glad they qualified as they will be easier to beat than B-H

They're not a particularly good side. Don't they play 4-4-2? Stuck in the dark ages. What's significant is that's everyone's talking about their spirit and fight (which admittedly is important), which essentially shows that they are quite limited.
