Potential Strikers from Prem for Cardiff City

By Simon Gaskel

16/11/2015

Danny Graham (Sunderland)

Probably not a popular choice given his playing history with Swansea City between 2011 and 2013 but a proven goalscorer at Championship level particularly in the spell with Watford that preceded his move to South Wales.

Back then he scored 38 goals in 91 games for the Hornets and he went on to become a hit at the Liberty, though his career has stalled since a move to Sunderland in 2013.

Hardly possesses lightning speed but is deceptively quick, full of guile and is a sharp finisher in and around the box.

Graham has only featured five times for the Black Cats this season, with just two starts.

Tokelo Rantie (Bournemouth)

Rantie became only the 13th South African international to play in the Premier League when he featured as a substitute for the Cherries against Newcastle earlier this month but up until that point had been well and truly in the wilderness.

Interestingly he was linked with a loan move to Cardiff last August but that never materialised in the end.

Despite a lack of club action, Rantie showed he is as sharp as ever with a goal for Bafana Bafana against Angola in a World Cup qualifier last week.

The 25-year-old livewire has bags of pace and athleticism to worry defences in the Championship.

Lewis Grabban (Norwich)

Another man who has been linked with the Bluebirds before. In the free-spending days of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the 2014/15 close season, the Bluebirds had a £3m bid for Grabban accepted only to miss out on his signature to Norwich.

That followed a sensational 2013/14 season for the Cherries in which he bagged 22 goals.

Life with the Canaries hasn’t been as smooth, though. He scored 12 goals in their 2014/15 promotion campaign but sought PFA advice in August following suspension by the club for leaving the team hotel ahead of a League Cup tie with Rotherham.

Leeds boss Steve Evans has refused to rule out a move for Grabban or similarly out-of-favour team-mate Kyle Lafferty.

Victor Anichebe (West Bromwich Albion)

The powerful former Everton man has played only two games this term, with one of those being in the Capital One Cup.

He was said to be subject of a failed bid by Bolton in September with Baggies boss Tony Pulis keen to keep his current squad together until Christmas.

Anichebe continues to see his opportunities restricted though and could be effective a division down. He is a strapping man, able to hold the ball up with his back to goal but also has a burst of speed and powerful strike.

Michail Antonio (West Ham United)

This would represent a more ambitious move than the others given Antonio moved to Upton Park in a massive £7m move back in September.

But such has been his anonymity since joining the Hammers that chairman David Gold was duped into retweeting a picture of a ‘missing’ man that was actually a picture of Antonio by an online prankster earlier this month.

The ex-Nottingham Forest man has explosive pace and could operate wide as well as through the middle at the top end of the pitch. Derby have been linked with a loan move.

If Tan was really wanting to get back to the PL?

Then Gayle and Grabban would IMO seal it :ayatollah:
