Slade wants to invest again in the Bluebirds squad but a look at the numbers shows the players he's signed haven't had much of an impact this season

" Tamas "
Signed from: Free agent
Championship starts this season: 0
Championship appearances this season: 0
Verdict: The former Watford and West Brom defender is an experienced Romanian international who was signed because of his ability to play in a number of positions across the defence.
Gabriel Tamas has been welcomed to Cardiff City, but hasn't been in the first teamGabriel Tamas has been welcomed to Cardiff City, but hasn't been in the first team
Joined to bolster that area and while hindsight is a wonderful thing, his August move seems something of a strange decision.
Is yet to play for Cardiff's first team... so why did he join in the first place?
Idriss Saadi
Signed from: Clermont (undisclosed)
Championship starts this season: 0
Championship appearances this season: 1
Verdict: Was plucked from nowhere when he joined the Bluebirds from French club Clermont and struggled to get going in the Welsh capital due to a persistent knee injury.
Huw Evans Picture AgencyIdriss Saadi controls the ball on his only
Came off the bench to make his debut in the win over Reading but then got injured again, this time with a hamstring problem.
Out for the next six weeks and although signs against the Royals were promising, Saadi has spent more time on the treatment table than the pitch so far.
Sammy Ameobi
Signed from: Newcastle (season long loan)
Championship starts this season: 3
Championship appearances this season: 15
Verdict: Probably the most exciting of Slade's 13 signings on paper.
Funny thing is, the game's not played on paper and Ameobi has struggled to make as big an impact as Cardiff fans hoped for.
A bit of an enigma, you'd think the Newcastle man should walk into the Cardiff side.
But that hasn't been the case with his goal against Wolves the only real highlight.
Has struggled for regular starts despite impressing at times.
Is he the next Wilfried Zaha or Ravel Morrison?
Should Sammy Ameobi start more matches?
Semi Ajayi
Signed from: (free from Arsenal)
Championship starts: 0
Championship appearances: 0
Verdict: Initially joined on loan from the Gunners but signed permanently in the summer.
Hasn't seen a minute of first team action and was shipped out on loan to Wimbledon.
You can't fault Slade for buying a young, promising player, but was he ever going to play?

Scott Malone
Signed from: £100,000 from Millwall
Championship starts this season: 8
Championship appearances this season: 12
Verdict: Seemed the sort of player that was right up Slade's street when he arrived from Millwall.
Solid, dependable and seemingly capable of the odd screamer as we saw at QPR.
Hasn't set the world alight but isn't the worst of Slade's signings either and could be set for a run of games with Brazilian ace Fabio out with a foot injury
Alex Revell
Signed from: Undisclosed from Rotherham
Championship starts this season: 7
Championship appearances this season: 9
Verdict: There were a few snorts of laughter when Revell arrived in Cardiff.
Scored goals in League One but there were doubts as to whether he had the quality to step up a division.
Sadly, that's proved to be the case and last week the ex Rotherham man left for Wigan on loan.
It leaves Kenwyne Jones and Joe Mason as the only other fit strikers available to Slade but regardless the truth is Revell simply never cut the mustard.
Lee Peltier
Signed from: Nominal fee from Huddersfield
Championship starts this season: 14
Championship appearances this season: 15
Verdict: Slade's best signing?
A regular at right-back and defines a typical Championship player with a tenacious work ethic and never-say-die attitude.
That's not a slight on the former Huddersfield man. Indeed, if the Bluebirds had more performing on a regular basis like Peltier they'd be a lot better off.
Stuart O'Keefe
Signed from: Undisclosed from Crystal Palace
Championship starts this season: 0
Championship appearances this season: 2
Verdict: With Palace flying high in the Premier League, you'd think a former member of their squad would certainly make the Cardiff side. Not so.
Slade has plenty of options in midfield and O'Keefe is hardly top of the queue.

Has had a couple of appearances off the bench and two run-outs in the Capital One Cup.
Another mediocre signing.
Eoin Doyle
Signed from: £1m from Chesterfield
Championship starts this season: 0
Championship appearances this season: 0
Verdict: Set League One on fire and moved to the Bluebirds to try and continue that flow of goals.
Formed what looked like a decent partnership with Joe Mason at the back end of last season but wasn't given much of a chance in this campaign.
Fled on loan to Preston but could he come back in January to replace Revell?

Matthew Kennedy
Signed from: Undisclosed from Everton
Championship starts this season: 0
Championship appearances this season: 0
Verdict: Started like a train in the Welsh capital. Regularly involved last season and impressed to boot.
This time around, however, it's a different story and he's nowhere near being involved.
Something has to have happened for that to be the case though it seems hard to pinpoint an exact reason.
Matthew Kennedy made a big impression for Cardiff last season, but has missed out on first-team selection this time around
Jordan Blaise
Signed from: On trial from Bordeaux initially
Championship starts this season: 0
Championship appearances this season: 0
Verdict: Had a trial spell with the Bluebirds in pre-season against Forest Green and became a YouTube sensation when Bluebirds fans called for him to do the Ayatollah. He didn't have a clue!
Impressed enough to earn a three-year deal but unfair to judge him as he's a youth player operating in the development squad.
Marco Weymans
Signed from: Free agent
Championship starts this season: 0
Championship appearances this season: 0
Verdict: Cardiff signing a player from PSV? That shouldn't happen!
Well it did in this case with the young Belgian joining Blaise in the Bluebirds' second string.
Yet to be involved at senior level.

how many of those players were signed with the specific intention of being first team players?
not that many of them, and one of them (saadi) has been injured

peltier malone and revell have all had a lot of game time this season.
im not disputing that some of his signings have been questionable, his record here in that sense is more bad than good.
However, the person who wrote this piece shouldnt really be using blaise, weymans and saadi as examples. or even tamas for that matter, who was only ever brought he to provide cover if needed.
the main disappointing aspect of his transfers here has been doyle, the only player who commanded a significant fee and hes been shipped out on loan, even worse when he might well have been able to do a job here.

Think its sad that all this board can do is highlight continually the negative side of slade! God help next manager if he reads this board I wouldn't want to come here at any cost! Be slagged off for just becoming our manager!
Mon Nov 16, 2015 5:47 pm
im hoping they take advice off Bellamy on our striker search. hence why he was there the last game
Mon Nov 16, 2015 6:02 pm
Why is everything being added with a negative spin on it? Complained we didn't have a striker to loan and now we're having to look at his failures numerous times. Despite being barely given a pot to piss in.
Mon Nov 16, 2015 6:15 pm
Negative negative ,and people wonder why there is a Shit buzz at the stadium ffs isn't time to support the team ,slade May or may not be the right man but he's our manager and we need to get behind him,we are crying out for a couple of decent pacey strikers hopefully these will come in
Mon Nov 16, 2015 6:28 pm
WeZ that's the point he wouldn't know a pacey striker if it hit him on the arse with a banjo

Annis, it's just because when you consider injuries, budget, youth players and back up players the situation isn't as bad as it seems. But WOL struggle to pick up on any positives especially when that condescending jack b*stard Wathan is Writting

WE ARE SEVENTH !!!!!!!!
God knows what would happen if we were 7th from bottom

ops
His hands are tied most of us can see that. He has nearly cleaned up Ole's mess and i don't think many fans want him to stay on, but he is doing a good job at making us competitive. We could have fallen through the trap door like a lot of bigger clubs than us have, but he stopped the rot.
All our squad are for sale, but the lack of takers tell you all you need to know about Ole & Malky "splash Tans cash" reign, none of them are worth it.........
The biggest mistake he made was buying cheaper players on a lot less money expecting all our superstars to be snapped up, but their contract must be so restrictive that we have to pay them to leave.....
I have excepted he will be here to the end of the season, i just wish we could stop the constant negativity, it does nobody any good.
