Chris Coleman hits out at Swansea City manager Garry Monk and West Brom's Tony Pulis over Wales 'friendly farce' claims

Just a week after hitting back at Arsenal's Arsene Wenger, Coleman defends right to choose Wales stars following Monk and Pulis questioning need for friendly matches
Chris Coleman has told Premier League bosses Tony Pulis and Garry Monk it’s not their place to hit out at international football – and warned he’s ready to stand up for his right to pick who he wants.
Swansea City chief Garry Monk described this month’s friendly window as “farcical” as he laid out his hopes duo Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor will be rested.
And West Brom supremo Pulis labelled the games “a waste of space” making the bizarre suggestion national associations should cover the cost of top-flight stars when they are away from their clubs.
Swansea City manager Garry Monk has criticised the international break
Which Swans players are on international duty?
But Coleman has hit back, saying those who have never played international football don’t understand what it means to represent your country and insisted he won’t be swayed over his team decisions ahead of Wales’ friendly clash with the Netherlands.
Coleman – who is without star pair Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey – is thought to be ready to start both Williams and Taylor, though neither are likely to play a full 90 minutes, while Albion defender James Chester is also set to feature.
Ashley Williams is at the centre of the debate
Coleman: Wales should not be expected to rest players for Euro 2016 friendlies
It comes just a week after the national boss went public with his frustrations over Arsene Wenger’s comments, which accused Wales of not doing enough to protect Ramsey from injury.
And while he stressed he will not risk players who is believes are fatigued or, as with the case of recuperating Real Madrid ace Bale, are coming back from injury, he said Wales’ warm-up matches before next summer’s European Championships are too important to start resting players for the sake of their clubs.

Coleman takes charge of a first Wales friendly in 17 months – an away challenge against the Dutch in June 2014 – and said: “It’s important I stand up for Wales.
“I did see some comments from people who have never played international football and they don’t know what it is all about and what it means.
“That is not me having a sideswipe because I can understand why they make certain comments.
“But when you represent your country surely that still has to mean as much as anything in football?
“There’s nothing I could have done that would have meant more to me than playing for Wales."

The old argument is the same, when England play nobody gives a toss. Anybody else, and managers kick off.

Isn't it odd how both club managers are 'under pressure' in their own jobs?
Mind you, there's no pressure on Monk really, as his boat has sailed and it's all about timing now

Disappointed in Pulis.
Monk is a wanker
Both managers have no understanding
Of playing for for country or preparing
For international tournaments.
Just using this as ammo to excuse club form
Or league position.
What would happen if these had euro matches
Like top 4 have to deal with every year?
D they have a pop at hodgson or African nations cup?
Cheep shots the twunts

Good on Coleman for sticking up for himself and his staff .monk doesn't like the fact that the Welsh team are doing just as good has his swansea team .monk has got to realise it's not all about swansea in Wales .our national team are just as important and we are delighted we are going to france

Judging on this year, Wales are doing far better then Swansea.
