Mad.

They sell off gestede and a couple of others after a great season and now Blackburn
Not having the same impact

So they sack the manager?!?!

Do owners realise only 3 teams can go up?

Gary Bowyer has left his position as Manager of Blackburn Rovers with immediate effect.

A statement released on the Club’s website tonight read:

“The Owners felt that following a disappointing start to the season, they have to act in order to give the club the best chance of success in the remainder of the campaign.

The Owners wish to place on record their sincere gratitude for the hard work and determination Gary has given the club, both in his capacity as manager and previously as Under-21 coach and within the Academy, in particular during the difficult period following relegation from the Premier League.”

Bowyer leaves with the club 16th in The Championship having collected 17 points from the opening 16 games of the season. Bowyer was appointed Manager of Blackburn Rovers on a full time basis at the end of the 2012/13 season, having twice taking temporary charge in a turbulent first season in the Championship which saw the club employ no fewer than five different men as manager in the space of just nine months.

Assistant Manager Terry McPhillips, First Team Coaches Craig Short and Tony Grant and Goalkeeping Coach John Keeley have also been relieved of their duties effective immediately.

The search for a new manager has reportedly already begun, with Rovers next in action away to Preston North End on Saturday 21st November.

Surely Malky must be in the frame soon.

Mind you he's 25/1 for the Jacks job.

It is not just owners is it?

Let's be fair being 7th in Championship doesn't get fans onside at CCFC.

What we (the fans) don't appreciate (and I include myself here) is circumstances we don't know about e.g. players physical or mental condition or the fact that a club has seasonal management as well as game management.

That means a manager might have to target a series of games in a particular way tactically due to injuries or suspension to key players.

I personally believe that was the reason for the recent 11-0-0 formation deployed by Slade whilst Jones was out injured. The manager would have been happy with 5 0-0 draws. As it happened he got 1 win 3 draws and 1 defeat which would be considered a result in terms of seasonal management.

Jones returned vs Reading and we won 2-0

Appreciate your comments Tony
But my post is to do with Blackburn sacking their manager.
Nothing implied to CCFC.

In Champ/Premier -the race to sack is ridiculous, this is why football as a spectacle has changed I think.
Set up not to lose rather than to win (hence many empty seats in places when you are not top 6.)
Afraid to blood youngsters etc etc

Fans cant sack the manager.
Owners do

I agree that we have a part in it though

He wasn't able to sign any players for money for almost his entire reign and on top of that he was forced to sell two of his prized assets in Gestede and King.

It could be argued that with the squad he had he could have done better but given the extenuating circumstances he faced I would have thought they'd have given him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he's actually that bad a manager and given some funds plus more backing he might do something with a club. Reminds me a lot of Nigel Adkins... although he's done f**k all lately mind!
