£43k pay for a driver and they are still complaining

No replacement transport, busy 2 days with xmas lights being switched on and the international on Friday.

It's a shambles of a company from top to bottom, I have the unfortunate experiences of these chumps daily, half the morons in Central station just run around like headless chickens.

I, also hearing that if Labour get full control in next years WAG elections then the next rail franchise which is in 2018 will be given to Arriva Trains Wales again!!! And who said that corruption doesn't happen in Cardiff Bay ?

The strike is nothing to do with pay, I've been told it's to do with the terms and conditions for the drivers

Even if the unions wording is 'changing terms and conditions' then that the vast majority of cases still means pay for example a different shift pattern would still mean the drivers wanting more pay for the different shifts

So a union is prepared to out on ALL OUT strike just over when they have a tea break ?

Something doesnt ring true here.

To the person who said Arriva will get the franchise again in 2018 - they wont - the WAG have said they will effectively re nationalise the franchise and run it themselves - which sounds like more of fecking disaster than Arriva.

Pay me 45k a year - and I'll promise I wont take a break when driving the train (or pressing the start / stop button)

Arriva, really are a quality outfit! I can almost taste the sarcasm.

I caught the 7.06 from Treforest to Aberdare this morning using my weekly ticket. For once, it was on time, everything looked good. When we arrived in Mountain Ash, the guard informed us that the train was only going as far as Fernhill, under no circumstances was it going to Aberdare. No information was given as a reason for this truncation of the service.

I got off the train, within minutes the electronic board was informing that the next train had been cancelled! Nobody around to give us information. As a public service transport system, they are a disgrace.

Rant over! What a start to my working day!

Perhaps they could offer Russell to take over the running of the business!

They got offered a decent increase on the £43k too and shorter shifts and still rejected it. If you ask me £43k to drive a train is superb money! Thats way more than DOUBLE what I get paid!

Rick I know you work for Arriva and have a duty to stand by them however you cannot argue that the company as a whole is run so poorly, seriously i'd rather a bunch of chimps were employed as I think they'd do a better job. Customer service is non existent, trains often cancelled with no explanation, remember hearing rumours before that a service from Barry to Cardiff was cancelled as there were too many leaves on a track.

in Rush hour is there a reason the Penarth service has 6 carriages where a lot of the time the Barry services have 2, ther trains to Barry can often be rammed, telling you if there was a derailment on one of these trains, there would be countless casualties.

Shit service, shit company, shit trains simple as that. As for the drivers strike not happy with £43k a year, they shouldn't even get half that, any c*** can shift a leaver and press a few buttons, why don't you have a word with these c**** and tell them to speed up in the mornings when they're running late.

Wolfpac, you, & others for that matter, need to get a better understanding of the railway industry, & how it operates in the UK before making such derogatory comments, especially regarding the personnel.

I can tell you that whenever there are vacancies, literally thousands apply, & not a bunch of chimps either.

Like I said, get a better understanding, the whole industry & the issues are complex, to say the least.

Oh yeah the wording the unions were using was that they were 'changing conditions' when in the real world a change usual means more pay

Re: TRAIN STRIKE 12 & 13th November

Rick i don't care about the rail industry in general, I care about getting back and forth to work without any issues, and I don't think the standards for paying £67 per month are acceptable, with delayed and cancelled services, overcrowded trains, waiting outside central for upto 10 mins in peak times, it's an absolute shambles and only Arriva are to blame.

Leaves and animals on tracks stopping services for hours, it's madness, you'd expect this 20 years back but not in 2015 - you got that old fuddy duddy twonk who works at central with his stick and whistle, he hasn't a clue what day it is let alone to give signal for the train to depart, then don't get me started on the moronic drivers who are paid a fortune to press a few buttons, and they have the cheek to strike, they want to take a long hard look at themselves, they should be ashamed of themselves the scumbags, if I was the boss of Arriva i'd sack you all and employ robots, they'd get the job done and to a better standard.

I agree that trains need to be updated as they are years old however I don't agree with insulting the workers by calling them scumbags or morons.
You need to put things into perspective
