Spoke to a mate last night who supports Leeds, and he said he thinks David Marshall has got to be worth £10 million at least. Saw his highlights from Saturday and obviously his form for the rest of the season so far.
How much do you think our captain is really worth and will he end his career at Cardiff City?
Mon Nov 09, 2015 12:17 pm
a solid 6m
Mon Nov 09, 2015 12:39 pm
He is worth over 10 but for some reason everyones got 6 in their heads.
We are a championship club so we'll get championship fees. 6 mill being about right.
Mon Nov 09, 2015 12:40 pm
At least £10 million. But we absolutely must keep him to have even the remotest chance of promotion.

so.... 6m then?

He is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Unless its a top 10 club we ain't getting 10 million.
Who is going to bid, Villa, Bournouth, Watford, WBA, Sunderland
I think the SOTON goalie isn't up to much, but they have a succession plan second to none, so I doubt Marshy aged 30 is on that list.
The liverpool keeper is poor as well, but Klopp probably has a good line through the German scene.
Everton don't normally pay top dollar
The palace keeper is dodgy, they are safe already so may be willing to splash the cash

Around 4-5m

If it was'nt for Marshal we would be bottom 3.
He's one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Can't believe we still have him.

that blew my socks off

Klopp will have his own targets and prob pick one of numerous good German keepers, he has to replace Mignolet, why not give Marshall half a season to impress for a £6mil fee?
Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:34 pm
The Palace keeper is Hennessey! Not dodgy, but excellent!
Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:35 pm
"Worth"
"What we'll get"
Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:42 pm
It is truly remarkable we still have him as he's easily a premier league goalkeeper and a top half one at that. Perhaps he's happy down here though, after all he's been here for a very long time now.

completely agree with you the guy is class. If he was english he would be worth 15+
Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:51 pm
Before I would of accepted £4mill, but for me he is the backbone of CCFC and this season Marshall has kept us out of the relegation zone, so City should not accept a penny less than £6million and All upfront

i cant agree whatsoever that we would be in the bottom three without him the season.
Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:54 pm
Seen worse keepers go for more, class keeper we would be bottom half of the table if it wasnt for him. If he was English he would be worth 20m and snapped up by now.
Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:54 pm
If someone offered 8 million I would probably reluctantly accept.
Anything less and probably not.
Cardiff will probably sell him for less though and he will be talked about as bargain of the season.

Paulh, Marshall has saved us game after game, But thankfully we will never know, where we would be without him

How many points do you think Marshall has gained us?
Mon Nov 09, 2015 3:17 pm
12-15 Million for me

its hard to say, would we have drawn without him on Saturday? its an impossible question to answer.
All i know is that we are unbeaten this season when Moore has started (4 games). I think it might be a safe assumption that we would have less points than we do currently, but i dont think the gap would be massive.
Mon Nov 09, 2015 3:43 pm
He's worthn £10 mill + - not the best at commanding but as a shot stopper he's up there with some of the best in europe.
Often spotted out in the City with his missus and child, he looks settled and happy.

Agreed he's missed games as well and we've not been beaten
Without a doubt the best keeper in this division though
If I was the club it would take a ridiculous bid for me to even think about selling let alone actually sell

Yes he is a rare bird like that in so much as he and his family are well settled.I think it would take a life changing offer to coax him to move.

Agree with this. 8 million, no less.
Class keeper nice guy and all-round class act, we are lucky to have him.

Keepers are massively under priced. If a Pl club want a top striker theyle pay 10m absolute minimum. But they want a keeper who will save them far more points and they wana get him for a bargain!

I think we will sell him in January and use the money to buy a new striker and attacking midfielder. The difference in goals conceded over a season between Marshall and Moore would be 5 or less in my opinion. A decent striker could score 20. Although I'd like him to stay, people over estimate the importance of goalkeepers, and the difference between a good one and a very good one is marginal.

If the club get what they think is a good price, then they will sell him regardless of Marshalls wishes.

I reckon he's worth at least 8-10 points a season to us.
Doubt he wants to go but if an offer of £6 million plus comes in I reckon the club (or more particularly Tan) will try to get him to move on.
