Russell Slade should keep his head down and focus on the play-offs because anything less is failure for Cardiff City

9 NOV 2015

BY NATHAN BLAKE

My advice to Russell would be to keep his head down, keep his team focused and let results do the talking. Getting involved in petty squabbles with journalists, like he did after the Leeds game, is ill-advised.

Even though Cardiff City recorded an impressive win against Reading, the goalkeeper and striker took all the plaudits but Nathan Blake says that shouldn't bother manager Russell Slade

Does Russell Slade deserve more credit?

After the defeat against Leeds, I didn’t give Cardiff City a hope of beating Reading on Saturday.

But fair play to Russell Slade and his team, that was an impressive win.

Sadly for the manager, his goalkeeper earned more praise for the 2-0 win than he did, but football can be cruel like that.

I’ve criticised Slade for his tactics, his team’s fitness and selections this season, but there’s no point in him sitting and waiting for praise because it might never come.

Let’s be honest, in a Championship as poor as this, anything but a top-six finish for Cardiff is a failure and that’s what Slade will be judged on.

Nathan Blakes Advice to Russell Slade

09/11/15

My advice to Russell would be to keep his head down, keep his team focused and let results do the talking. Getting involved in petty squabbles with journalists, like he did after the Leeds game, is ill-advised.

His main complaint was about a WalesOnline poll which asked fans for their opinions about him. He challenged us to run the poll again after a win but I can’t see the result being much different.

Slade must feel as though he can’t win sometimes but he must not let things like internet polls, poor crowds or even Craig Bellamy turning up bother him.

He just has to get on with his job and stop going on the defensive every time he’s asked tough questions.

As for the talk about Bellamy, he isn’t the answer to Cardiff’s problems, either. He has zero experience and that’s all I need to say about that.

at least many on here are capable of forming their own opinions and sticking to them. Hope you learn to do that a little more as you get older. Very rarely do you post any substance to any thoughts on players, managers, games just :sladeout: or :sladein:

Very frustrating because I'm always changing my opinion.

Three points off the play-offs yet we've played awful at times, especially during our goal drought. But 7th place at this stage is not too shabby. QPR suffering worse than us.

:sladein: for now. But how long will it last?

Silly article by Blake, he is correct about it being a poor championship though. Standard drops each year, some of our teams of the past who could only manage mid table or play offs would walk this division. Sad but true
