Joe Mason

Do we all believe he has been given a good run and has shown he is not the answer in this set up

Where I was sat yesterday, the observation of the fans around me,was that he is totally out of his depth. In fact he was so bad most people were laughing at his hilarious attempts at being a striker.
Saadi done more in 10 minutes than Mason as done in 10 games .
I think Joe needs a rest for his own good and for him to try to build up some confidence. This hasn't given me any pleasure writing this ,because he seems a nice kid.

Agree with all of that. He is simply not, and never will be, good enough to be a Championship striker.

He's not quick enough to get behind defences or even close defenders down. Yesterday I can't remember him getting on the end of one of Jones's flicks and there were plenty !

It's too early to judge Saadi but he looked to have enough to justify some game time alongside Jones to see if he can form a partnership.

Jones and Saadi could be a lethal partnership. :ayatollah:

I don't think Jones and anyone will make a good partnership.

Jones has played most of his career as a lone centre forward in a 4231 or 433.

I think Saadi is our assurance if (when) Jones goes at christmas

I can't see that but if you're right it's another Slade cock-up as Saadi is not the type of striker that can replace Jones.

He looks like a goal poacher to me and will need a big striker alongside him.

I know it was only a brief glimpse of Saadi yesterday and it is too early to comment with any degree of accuracy, but it looked to me that he is the type of forward quite happy to play through the middle on his own. He looked very compact, strong and quick.

He was looking to receive the ball with his back to goal to link play, his first touch was a bit ropey, and he was also prepared to run the channels to stretch the two central defenders and play off their shoulders. We have missed this type of forward since the departure of Campbell.

It would be nice to see a clever player in the hole behind him, I think that would add variety to our attacking play and we would be more of a threat on the counter attack, on too many occasions we win the ball in our own half and our lack of tempo and vigour gives teams the chance to get organised and slow down our play.

I think Saadi will be getting a few run outs over the next few games so he'll have his chance to knock mason out of the first team. Meanwhile it should give mason a push with the competition

Most of us City fans know that Mason at best is 1st division quality, but unfortunately Slade thinks otherwise, proving once again our manager is completely out of step with the fans on mostly everything

Alot of fans on here were crying about mason being on loan last season and that if he was with us instead of macheda Jones Le fondre. ...whoever he would get goals. Also start of season alot were saying he's a natural goalscorer. Most players or management haven't got a chance with most people. :old:

Slade cock up? Tan signed him, not Slade. Saadi looks more than just a poacher to me anyway.

As for Mason, he's declined as a player and these days, he's simply not good enough and too easy to play against.

We've no option of playing him as Slade has let our other strikers go.

U serious? Saadi is a six foot odd tank, more mobile quicker better technically than jones much better cut out to play a lone striker role than jones

I doubt it was Slade. IMO it was an "any offers" as we are so over manned. Macheda crocked, Jones expensive so ALF who didn't want to be here (and over hyped) and Doyle had to go, we probably just didn't get any real offers for Mason.

Malky did quite well with only one guy in his last year of football ......He could change the system :o :o

He's a league one striker. Can't finish. Constantly offside. Works hard but is not good enough for this league.
