Craig Bellamy watches Cardiff City just days after Jay Bothroyd touts him for manager's job
In the week he's been touted for the manager's job, Craig Bellamy has been spotted at the Cardiff City Stadium
Craig Bellamy was at Cardiff City in the week his teammate Jay Bothroyd touted him for the manager's job .
Bellamy, who retired from football at the end of the Bluebirds' failed Premier League season, hasn't been spotted at a match since but today he was snapped sharing a joke with board member Steve Borley in the chairman's lounge, as chief executive Ken Choo stood close by.
With manager Russell Slade under-fire this week, former striker Bothroyd said he'd love to see the Wales striker take the helm at Cardiff City Stadium, to get them playing some attacking football.
He said: “There needs to be change with a strategy of moving forward and trying to be successful.”
While it appears to be a coincidence that Bellamy should appear at the stadium while he was in the news, it certainly excited fans on social media.
Bellamy played 90 times during his two spells for the Bluebirds and won 78 Wales caps during an impressive playing career, which ended at his hometown club.
Since his retirement, he's spoken about his desire to move into coaching and management and has been involved with the Bluebirds academy setup.

Yes that's all we need. An unproven manager!

And proven managers don't necessarily guarantee success either.

Do you not get Sarcasm?
But for the record I wouldn't want Bellamy anyway.
I think Slade should be given time. And at least a full season.

Monk is not doing so well. Many Swans fans want him gone. The Swans are dropping like a stone and Monk inherited a good team. Some are asking what has he done to it!

Why does Bellamy deserve to walk into that job ?
For me he'd have to prove himself either as a coach or at another club first.
In his spells here he let off field issues take priority over his football- that's not exactly the sort of thing you could even consider as manager.
Also, has he grown out of the regular fall- outs with fellow pros and staff ?
If and when Slade goes, and again IMHO he's doing OK considering what he's up against, then we should cast the net wide, not just plump for the local big name.
By all means involve him, if RS is happy to do so, but that's as far as it should go until he proves that he can be relied on

I think Russell Slade should be given at the very least this season to prove himself capable of managing a Championship club. He took over from Ole and straight away had to sort out the mess he had inherited and let's be fair he still managed a middle of the table finish. This season he's got us upto 7th in the table just outside the play offs. Let's remind ourselves that he's had to cope with the likes of Jones, Saadi, and Macheda out injured so the goals dried up. Now we've got Jones and Saadi back let's see where he takes us from here. A good indicator will be the match against Derby after the International break.
As much as i like Craig Bellamy i still think that he should learn all he can about football management first and perhaps after having the actual experience of managing a club then we might consider him as a possible contender for the managers position. Having been a great player doesn't mean he'll be a great manager.
I also hope that Peter Whittingham remains unselected and occupies a seat on the subs bench at best. The same goes for Mason. Let's give Jones, Saadi and Ameobi a try out and see where it goes from there!
Success to the Bluebirds!

Yeah I'd rather see this and ease the transition if he does take over

I for one would love Bellamy as our manager, players would respect him plus he's Cardiff through and through, I think most of us fans would have him in now than keep Slade any day!

To get rid of the manager now would be stupid, as we would have to start all over again, it could be detrimental to the squad, regardless of how popular Bellamy is with the players.
At the moment we are 7th in the table, only lost 3 games all season so far and recently keeping clean sheets which is positive to note. However, at the moment we are lacking our forward options, who I believe Mason and Revell together doesn't seem to work. But with Jones back and Saaidi working towards full match fitness we may have different options which may work in the long term.
Our target this season was at least the play-offs and I believe Slade should be given a full opportunity to achieve this till the end of the season.
Our present league position and form does not warrant a managerial change; in my opinion if we were ever to make a change it would have to be end of season; where a manager can come in and implement his strategy for preseason.
