' TIME TO BE BRAVE '

" TIME TO BE BRAVE "

If Russell Slade wants to at least try and win the fans over and critics then in my opinion he must be brave on Saturday and change his tactics to take the game to Reading at CCS and not play the 'not to lose' system he has used frequently in recent games.

His back four I expect will remain the same as Tuesday but it is further forward that I believe Slade needs to change to try and at appease fans with a willingness of at least trying something different.

Firstly I believe the suspension of Whittingham is somewhat serendipitous, with the managers favourite player banned and Dikgacoi currently sidelined then surely Joe Ralls must take centre stage, many fans agree that Ralls is a central midfield player and his energy and willingness to carry the ball and shoot from distance is something our midfield had lacked even before Slade's appointment.

Gunnarsson would partner Ralls if I was picking the team and I would give Matthew Kennedy his chance to prove his worth with Anthony Pilkington taking the flank on the other side.

Kenwyne Jones must be the big man up top to partner Joe Mason.

Will Russell Slade use Ralls as the catalyst on Saturday to try and turn around our recent performances and results?

I really hope so.

There are better options probably, like playing 3 centre halves with wing backs and going 5-3-2 but I really don't see Slade changing it that much.

He must act in a manner that fans can see something different being tried but will he play it safe or look to set us up to play attacking football using pace on one side and energy and guile through the middle.

We don't have to wait long to find out.

He will stick with Mason and Revell and wont change anything and set up to defend. :sladeout: :sladeout:

Hard to disagree with any of that. But Slades answer on saturday will be O`Keefe in the middle and Jones for Revell.
Other than that, noting will change, 100%! But im sure City will win this one either way :bluescarf:

I agree that Whitingham's suspension maybe a blessing in disguise. He is a great player but he is not a central midfielder. His best work recently was out on the left flank. You need a solid CM and the fact is when Whits plays there we are not.

Ralls has to be given his chance. He is quality and will blossom in the central midfield birth.

There is absolutely no chance would even Slade stick with Revell when Jones is fit.

If he does then I think the Slade out chants will start before kick off.

He indeed has to be brave, said it earlier this week. It's tipping point

My worry is that O'Keefe gets the nod too.

I don't see us beating Reading unless we are going to go for it unfortunately.

I wouldn't be surprised if he picks Revell again and he will set up the team to defend again. :sladeout: :sladeout:

By where I stand in the Canton the :sladeout: chants will start before kick off whether he chooses Jones ahead of Revell or not.

Some seriously pissed off fans around me - one bloke even shouts :sladeout: when we score! (Which isn't very often nowadays)

Carl is Dikgachoi definitely out.
I thought it was only a minor twinge.

If so, it's same back 4,
Pilkington Ralls Gunnar No one
Jones Mason

For me...

Starting to look thin on the ground now though

I really hope Slade plays your suggested line up. My concern is why can't he see this, it seems absolutely obvious to everybody else  . Slade either seems to hold grudges and have personality clashes with certain players (like Kennedy), love-ins with others irrespective of their contribution (like Witts and Revell) or even more concerning Tan is ordering Slade to do this for some petty revenge on turning us back to blue.

I'm just really worried about where we go from here. Let's hope we see something positive in terms of team selection or as you say, the knives will be out before kick off.

I think this will work on Saturday, and we might start to see an uplift in our fortunes. Apart from those with injuries this is probably our best side

Marshall
Peltier
Connolly
Morrison
Malone
Pilkington
Gunnarsson
Ralls
Kennedy
Jones
Mason

I say if this side does well Saturday redeem yourself Sladey and stick with it!
