Disappointed Russell Slade insists his team worked hard at Leeds and there's nothing wrong with their commitment

Peter Whittingham was one of the players who worked hard at Leeds
Russell Slade spoke to the media after the loss at Leeds in what was only Cardiff City's first defeat in seven games, but a game that brought further concerns about their inability to find the net and sparked extra scrutiny over the Bluebirds boss.

Here's what the manager had to say.

SLADE'S VIEW ON THE GAME...

It's always disappointing when you lose, albeit it after what was an incredible strike to be fair. I thought we started the game okay in the first 15 minutes and they had a ten minute spell before half-time but it wasn't really until the 60 minute and they scored we took the brakes off and played with more freedom. We made changes, there was some positive impacts and it looked like we might score in the last half-hour.

SLADE ON THE DEFENCE...

They've worked hard, they were doing their jobs and have prided themselves on being strong and organised and playing off a good structure. It's disappointing at the other end it's not happening for us. We can't expect the defence to always keep clean sheets, of course, we have to be scoring goals if we want to be where we want to be.

SLADE ON THE SHOT-SHY ATTACK...

We have a couple of players coming back which give us one or two more options and I think you saw when we made changes they made an impact. There was one fantastic move linking up four or five of our players and Joe Mason got a good shot off and was unfortunate not to score. But we have to work hard at our forward thinking and creativity until we start scoring again.

SLADE ON WHETHER THE GOALS WILL RETURN...

We have got it in us – we showed that at the start of the season where in the first nine games there was only one where we didn't score. It's an issue and one we're working on and trying our best to address but it's also the first goal we've conceded in four. It's a challenge for us and we have to get over it and start scoring again. These things happen and we need a reaction to get over it sooner rather than later.

SLADE ON THE SERVICE...

I thought our delivery was poor at times. We got ourselves into really good positions and we were looking for a good ball in that box to give our attackers an opportunity to score. We had more crosses – or attempted crosses – than we have in a while but they have to come with a bit more composure and a bit more quality. It's not all on the strikers because the service has got to be there as well. We have to give credit to Leeds defending as well because they got their heads on the ball but we have to make sure we give the service that will give us the best opportunity.

Rip the teamsheet up for midfield and attack and start again slade you numpty then you might start seeing better results and more goals. Not rocket science. Slade wont change much tho he would rather play for draws all season rather than attack teams score goals and go for it.

With Whitts out now play ralls in the middle and start with two real wingers, that could be a start to playing more attacking football.

You are right Annis, Leeds were worse than crap and yes we were worse than Leeds. An awful game and words can't describe how bad City were last night.

I am even more worried about what Choo and Dalman see about it!

Give Peter Ridsdale credit, he made mistakes but he always drove the club forward.

This lot just appear to want to make the club as bad as possible :sladeout:

Slade what a clueless idiot. 76 minutes last night to even get an effort on target. Last time we scored it was a freaking own goal and before that I can't even remember.
If film producers make constant shite films the Cinemas will be empty. With Slade in charge our support will dwindle even further. It is so dour as soon as the game kicks off we are wishing away the 90 minutes, until it has finished it is so Fooking boring.
