Very fine lines

Mon Nov 02, 2015 2:03 pm

It's all been so poor of late, yet the points return still ticks over and a win at Leeds would see a return of 4 points on the road from two games and a chance to regroup. The change of personnel of late however small has made a massive difference, if we can come out of this drought of goals with a decent points tally which isn't impossible then no reason we can't kick on. :bluescarf:

I think a couple of quality signings could make a big difference.

We are sadly lacking up front. Those that play are not good enough as they lack pace., Kenwynne is patchy in his performances , Ameobi is also inconsistent and "neither fish nor fowl" in terms of where his best playing position is and we have no idea how good Saadi will be.

If the team could somehow get hold of a pacey striker who can finish then the likes of Whittingham (who may have lost "legs" but can still pick a pass) and others would then have the option of slotting passes behind the opposition defence for such a player to run on to. We simply don`t have that option available at present which I believe is a major reason why our attacks are so ponderous and predictable making it easy for opposing defences.

A good fast winger who can go past a defender and with an end product of accurate crossing (why Kennedy can`t get near the team to supply this is a mystery to me as he has provided this in the past) would also be a big improvement as Noone just runs up blind alleys even if he beats a defender and Pilkington has never been this type of winger/wide player.

If Saadi proves to be the answer to one of these problems , then maybe the team could look as follows and be stronger for it

Marshall

Peltier
Connelly
Morrison
Malone

Kennedy
Digachoi
Ralls
Whittingham

Jones
Saadi

Subs; Moore , Turner , John , Gunnarsson , Pilkington , Mason , Ameobi

Plus the likes of Manga , Fabio (after they recover from their injuries) and O`Keefe to challenge for places

Just a thought to start a debate.

no matter how badly we have been playing of late (much worse than at the start of the season where we put in some decent performances) 4 points from two away games is always a good return

what you say is correct and it really shows there's not a lot wrong if can get that right person in during January and slade has faith in using permanent winger (not noone ) :thumbright:
