Cardiff City lack identity and must break goal scoring drought soon... Leeds could be the perfect place to start!

Our columnist Nathan Blake is seriously concerned at the lack of firepower at the Bluebirds, but can see Russell Slade's men scoring at Elland Road on Tuesday
Cardiff's inability to hit the back of the net is starting to become a real issue
Cardiff City need to break this goal scoring drought sooner rather than later as it is becoming a real issue for them.
You do not even notice it at first, you just go into games determined to do you best, to get the points, then other people start talking about it, the media starts reporting it and, before you know it, you are thinking about it too.
It might even be a subconscious thing, you might not even be aware of it, but the thought is there: “We need to score. When will we score?”
I have been through barren spells myself as a striker, I think my longest run without a goal was about 12 games and it can be a real nightmare.
Things you started taking for granted, things you did automatically, are suddenly not there any more.
You get laboured and the Bluebirds look like they are labouring a bit right now.
The goalless draw at Ipswich was a drab affair, like too many Bluebirds games of late, but it illustrated again, the fundamental problem that Russell Slade’s Bluebirds have - they still lack an identity.
It’s fine keeping clean sheets, to keep the opposition out, but in all honesty, if the Bluebirds are to be challenging at the top of the table, which we have been told is the ambition this term, then these points are really not good enough.
Most worrying of all is that the Bluebirds are hardly creating any chances either.
You would not mind no goals if they have hit the post or forced their goalkeeper into making class saves, but they are not.

Makes me laugh when all these pundits go on about the same problem we all know about. Even more laughable as quite a few of us said this a long time ago.
Well we are stuck with it because it is one of those problems you will be lucky to solve in January.

Very true Ian, a lot of all our problems were said weeks ago by our fans

I get Blakey's point about an identity as no-one really knows what the 'Cardiff Way' of playing is? In recent years it has been the 11-0-0 formation aiming to keep a clean sheet and nick a set piece goal.
In the Jones years we seemed to win 3-0 when it didn't matter and lose 0-3 when it did.
Neither are very good basis to success so may be it is time to think about finally doing something else? 4-3-3 maybe?

Yes Tony, Blakes identified our problem, the fans have now Slade needs to.

I am pretty sure Slade knows the problem too
but to say Mason aint good enough Revell is not the answer and so on like we all can is something he can not do as morale would dive and we would be back to OGS days
we need all our front men fit and then we can see if Slade can work it out
he has no choice Atm

I think if we stick macheda and saadi upfront together and ameobi starting on the wing the goals will flow.

someone like Macheda would definately make a difference if you could get him to want to play.
Unfortunately you will have to get him on the pitch first.
Just going to keep my fingers crossed that Kenwyn is starting tomorrow, least if gives us a few more options over Revell.

Maybe if slade played a more attacking team we'd score more. Imo malone and fabio need to play full back as they both give a forward outlet. And kennedy and ameobi need to get more game time.

I dont see the problem. Slade said a few weeks back he had a 20 goals player in Mason..

Blake once again demonstrated his ability to state the obvious, the real issue is that Slade made a bad judgement call by sending natural goalscorers out on loan and keeping
less talented strikers, hoping they would come good, forgetting our ponderous and predictable midfield not being able to provide the chances for our strikers to feed off,we need to sell Mason and Revell in January, rebuild our midfield with quality signings, either bring back our natural goalscorers from loan and see how they would perform with our revamped midfield, with the option of bringing in quality strikers if we need them,to finance that I would sell Noon,Gunnerson and shock horror, Whittingham as well, some on here will say this is all to drastic, but I would argue the dammed situation is drastic

Agree with Blakey on this one take Revell off and put Jones on then we will score.
