Plastic is a material consisting of any of a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic organics that are malleable and can be molded into solid objects of diverse shapes. Plastics are typically organic polymers of high molecular mass, but they often contain other substances.

Nothing to do with fair weather football fans, as far as I'm concerned if you buy a ticket to watch the game then you are a supporter.

To much snobbery around where some fans think they are better than others. Especially fans who travel away regularly.

Someone will only support the team when winning.

To me plastics are those who support the so called big clubs that they have no emotional connection with. To summarise anyone in South Wales that supports Liverpool, man Utd, man city, Chelsea or Arsenal.

Cardiff have zero plastic fans the idea they do is up there with the superiority complex that too many fans have.

Total Rubbish! Who are you to say who has or doesn't have an emotional attachment to any club, anywhere? that is just an ignorant, ethnocentric view.

Plastic has never really been a good term to explain the phenomenon of 1000's of fans who appear from nowhere when a club has some success and disappear just as quick when things go tits up.

Personally I understand it and it is part of the natural cycle.

What does get me is when someone claims to be a 'diehard' fan who has 'gone for years' but is giving up because the football is rubbish or any other fabricated excuse.

Any diehard has sat through more crap periods than successful ones and the current downturn shouldn't be anything new. I'm renewing next season no matter how bad things get and I modestly propose this is the attitude of a diehard fan or dead stupid blind loyalty

What is isn't though is a claim to be loyal when clearly your actions show otherwise (i.e. non-attendance)

Surely Gareth can give an explanation from his own perspective which is an emotional attachment, something I know I have. To deny him his view could be considered boorish and dictatorial.

Your outrage shows you haven't understood the statement, or it's touched a nerve. Gareth isn't talking about any one individual, just a type of fan who cherry picks a club based on success and no other connection. Generally forgiven in children, doesn't go down too well with adults. As for ethnocentric, who knows ??

It's my opinion. It's not a fact just what I think. To me football is an emotional sport. I will never forget my first visit to watch the city play. The sight of the giant floodlights of Ninian park and the smell of bovril etc were all part of following Ccfc. I cannot understand how anyone could get excited about a team that they have never watched live.

People worry to much, being called a plastic is someone else's problem not there's. It's almost as if people feel like they should get season tickets so they ain't called a nasty name  . If you want to go to a game then go, if you don't then dont. At the end of the day if we have lost 1000s of fans it's a club issue and tbh fans have a been given a million excuses. 1000s of fans ain't wrong.
