Mason

Sun Nov 01, 2015 10:06 am

Having watched him at the game yesterday, he was shocking, had an absolute mare and was totally inept. He is lacklustre, doesn't read the game, jogs around like a headless chicken, and just looked totally disinterested. He repeatedly gave the ball away, not making any attempt at all to get it back. He is not a championship player in any sense of the word at the moment. He actually looks unfit and indifferent about the game, and he has become complacent. He should have been subbed. He may be a top scorer bit looks like a div 2 player and NOT a team player.

Why i was angry about his dive for the penalty was it showed a total lack of confidence in his own ability to score and took the easy option. I wish some of our fans can see it, he hasn't got the physicality but especially the mentality of a top footballer.

You can see the confidence has drained out of him, but Slade has a model

He seems the sort of striker that needs about 6-7 chances to make one count, not good at all especially when we hardly create that amount of chances in two games never mind one.

Mason a League One player at best. But he's all we got at the moment. As far as Revell is concerned he's a waste of time and he is only in the squad to make up the number. Both Dolye and Revell must be counted as Slade's follies lol

I do believe Mason is being dragged down to Revel's level. Revel is a workhorse but not good enough for the Championship.

Mason with Jones is better but he does need a kick up the arse.

i believe Jones holds both centre halfs in better than anyone gives him credit for, so Joe has a lot of space when playing with him. The question is would Ameobi do better with that freedom than Joe? IMO, the answer is yes, we need him on the park, Slade isn't going to change to a 433 so Joe has to be sacrificed.

Mason is just too slow in mind and deed.
I've lost count how many times he is caught offside, because he is so slow he needs an head start over the defenders.
He always picks the wrong option ,he panics when he has a one on one with the keeper, think back through all the games this season, and Mason is just not up to it.

Can't argue with that.

I've been saying Jones and Ameobi should be paired together all season :ayatollah:

I was glad when Slade said he would give Mason a run of games. It would show once and for all if he could thrive as an out and out striker, and I really hoped he would cut it. It just hasn't worked out for him though.

He is able to regularly find space but it's what he does next that's the problem. A lack of pace and strength coupled with not being lethal enough with his finishing means he'll never progress into a top striker at this level. I doubt he could play wide or in midfield either so he always be one of those footballing anomalies; a player with good natural talent and movement but doesn't fit into a structure.

It's a shame.

Most strikers have a presence .... you know they are there .... Mason is like the invisible man. Offers absolutely nothing and his goals just paper over the huge cracks. Waste of space.
