At the end of a month without defeat, Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has admitted his team are 'not quite doing enough'

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade admits his team are short of their play-off target – despite an unbeaten October.
After his team slipped below Sheffield Wednesday to ninth in the Championship, with a 0-0 draw at Ipswich , Slade said: “We can’t be doing enough now because the numbers don’t lie.
“We are outside the top six, so we are not quite doing enough , will we improve? Can we improve, of course we can.”
It was a fourth clean-sheet on the bounce for the battling Bluebirds at Portman Road, but they have now not scored a goal of their own creation in nearly seven-and-a-half hours of football.
There only breakthrough of late was a George Friend own goal to secure the victory over Middlesbrough.
Slade hailed his side’s resilience, after only conceding one goal in the last month but admitted they must start creating and taking more chances going forward.
Slade said: “I see it as a good point because Ipswich is always a difficult place to come. “It’s been a difficult place for Cardiff to come to in the past
“Somebody told me, it’s the first time since 2005 we’ve had four clean-sheets on the bounce.
“We’ve got that side of it right but clearly our problem is at the other end.
“We have to keep working at it, we have to try to get bodies in the box. We’ve got to be ruthless when the opportunities come, sometimes when you are away from home you don’t get too many. We have to learn to take them. While it’s not happening we have to stay balanced and organised.”

It's the first time since 2005 we have had 4 clean sheets on the bounce well well I would love to know the stats on shots on target in those 4 games

Ipswich Town's run without a win extended to seven Championship games as Cardiff City were held to a second consecutive drab goalless draw.

We are doing very well defectively, the very worrying fact is no Cardiff player has scored for 360 minutes of Championship football.
Slade needs to address it ASAP. Hopefully Jones is in the squad for Leeds and Saadi can be in the match day squad for the Reading game so we can what he's made of, he's got pace to burn apparently and we are crying out for a bit of pace.

It could be described as 'held' to a second 0-0 draw but more accurately is should be 'held on' for a second 0-0 draw as you can't really say we went out to win either game.

I agree we are they good at being 'defective' at the moment

Russell is right - we're not quite good enough.
Unfortunately, Russell is not quite good enough either.

I haven't seen much of city this season unfortunately but what I have seen is this.
A more solid team defensively
Harder to beat.
The standard of football is like last season dire.I can't stand the style slade employes it painful and bloody boring I find myself just getting angry watching us play.
It's like slade is to scared to loose why can't we just go play high tempo football with an intensity other than the boring shit on offer.
As city fans that's what we want not lacklustre football for God sake go at em get into em.
For me until slade is gone and we get a decent manager in we ain't seeing much better that this crap on offer.
You want fans looking forward to games not thinking shit here we go again.

At least Slade can see what most fans on this forum can see, and is honest enough to say the stats don't lie, and that we are not quite good enough. We will still get the usual few suspects on here who refuse to see the problems, and will still be adamant that we are going to be promoted even after it becomes mathematically impossible for us to go up. Unless Slade is able to strengthen this team, we are going to end up exactly where many predicted before the season even began, and that is somewhere around the middle of the table. This squad is not good enough to get the club promoted, but from what I've seen of the Championship so far, probably only needs a couple of quality players added to get us back in contention. Unfortunately, I expect there are supporters of at least ten other clubs saying the same thing, and only three will achieve what their fans want.

100% - Marshall has been responsible for most points this month in my opinion. Amazingly no form of late.

Without his great saves we would have lost the last three games, I just don't buy this clean sheet spin

We aren't good enough and thats a FACT.
Ipswich were as bad as us if not worse.
We have no pace and no strikers; as Mason had a poor game and even though Revell worked hard he is not the answer. We are all baying for Kenwynne to get back but really???????? CMon he's hardly a mobile pacy striker is he? If he is I have yet to see it.
We just aren't good enough and on Saturday I watched 2 mid table teams bore me shitless!
Still onwards and upwards!

It's not a FACT just because you say so, it's your opinion.
Love how people put FACT in capitals and that makes it set in stone. You don't think we're good enough and that's your opinion.
I personally feel we do have a good enough squad we just need strikers that can score and with KJ coming back and hopefully Saadi coming good for us we might just push on.
It's all about opinions mind.

Ok fair play! its about opinions.
Did you go Sat? I did. Our own manager said we weren't good enough and I agree with him. Strikers will help but we have NO pace. When you say strikers I take it you mean KJ, Revell, Mason, Macheda? Really???Additionly the new boy Sadi has yet to kick a ball properly. The game I watched on Saturday was between two mid table teams not promotion contenders. I am a realist.Thats an opinion!

what he actually said was "we aren't doing enough" - he didn't mention not good enough, unless it is somewhere I haven't seen.
Yes it's a bit tedious, but he's spent naff all and shifted a load off the wage bill. For me, whilst I would
like more, I accept it's going to take a while before I can
expect more.
