Ten points from Eighteen, unbeaten in six

Sat Oct 31, 2015 5:16 pm

Good return imo although it could have been worse if we went of performances but it's a results game.

Considering the job uncle fester has to do with one hand tied behind his back then it's a good return.

If we had not got anything in six games I'd get the doom and gloom but we haven't

A draw today is good as we normally get beat there, stats prove this.

A win vs Leeds and we will be back in the mix hopefully

Cardiff City 2 Charlton Athletic 1
Brighton 1 Cardiff City 1
Preston North End 0 Cardiff City 0
Cardiff City 1 Middlesbrough 0
Cardiff City 0 Bristol City 0
Ipswich 0 Cardiff City 0

To be fair you can use stats to suit yourself. You could also have said we have gained 10 points out of the last 24 points available.

It is, and we are heading in the wrong direction. Having dropped out of the top six, we've dropped another place today. Unless we turn draws into wins, we could be too far behind the promotion contenders before money is made available in the next transfer window.

Correct. And there's no guarantee that money WILL be made available in January. Tan or the club have said no such thing.

why is ours so good ?

Peltier, Connolly, Morrison, Mason, Revell,Noone - Average championship (at best)

Ralls, Dikachoi, Whitts, pilkington, Jones - Top end championship

Marshall, Manga, Fabio - should be in the prem

Feeble excuse

Did you watch the promotion season under Malky Mackay??? some of the worst football I've witnessed in 20 years of following Cardiff city

This team although it doesn't quite have the same quality reminds me very much of that one, hard to beat boring football and nicking the odd goal for tight one nil wins

That season our top scorer managed 13 goals (I believe) so we were hardly lighting the world on fire goals wise then either

So blaming attendances on the football is nonsense

It's second season back in the championship attendances were only ever going to drop as we aren't seen as real promotion contenders and the price freeze which was keeping people coming to games before promotion has long gone!

We also have the rebrand to thank for turning some folk away but that again is a maybe situation not many have gone away and stayed away, what happened to the few thousand that said make us blue and the numbers will return then??

If we were winning 5-0 every week I don't think we'd draw many more, our core base is around 10,000 fans and a few thousand who attend on price and league position after that

If the club addresses season ticket prices next year then it may bring a few back

Disagree with you.

Malky's team was certainly more conservative than Dave Jones' team had been but that was absolutely necessary to avoid the constant falling at the final hurdle that had blighted Jones's time at the club.

The football played was far more entertaining than we've seen under Slade. In the promotion season you mention we scored three or more goals against Blackpool, Burnley, Charlton, Wolves, Forest and twice against Blackburn. How oftenhave we scored more than twice under Slade?

The rebrand was definitely a factor but again, during that promotion season the ground was full almost every week despite the fact that we were playing in red.

Although the season ticket prize freeze ended I'm not sure that the increase in season ticket prices was so great that thousands were put off renewing and as we have been back in blue since the middle of last season then that can't be an excuse either.

There are many many reasons why the support has dropped this season but I believe that the dreadful style of football from the end of last season and which we seem to be returning to now after a more promising start to the season is a massive reason why people are choosing not to attend.

In over 40 years of following the City I honestly feel that. taking into account the level at which we are playing and the quality in the squad, we are playing some of the worst, least attractive and downright dull football that I have ever seen.

I have come closer to saying "I can't be bothered any more" this season and last than I ever have before, even in the dungeon days and that's solely because of the awful style of football on the pitch. I have happily gone during promotions, relegations, financial problems, takeovers, Premier League, League 2 etc but now it's becoming less enjoyable by the game.

We have suffered a natural loss of support which affects every club that is relegated from the Premier League, especially if they don't bounce back at the first attempt.

I wouldn't for one moment argue that the standard of football at present is awful. We are badly missing K Jones (a motivated K Jones that is) because Revel is a wasted shirt and we are basically playing with 10 and half men (describing Revel as half a striker is being over generous IMO  .)

The coaching staff have to find a solution and playing this lop sided 4-4-2 is not the answer. We have to go 4-3-3 with Noone Mason and Sammi the front 3 until Jones is back.

We will leak goals with that formation but we won't score any with the status quo.

Here are a few positives for you Ian:
4 consecutive clean sheets.
2 goals conceded in the last 6.
Unbeaten in the last 6 games.
2 points off the playoffs.

Here are a few negatives:
Only scored 1 goal by a Cardiff player in 5 games.
10 points from 24 points constitutes 0.42 points per game, hardly promotion form.
Dire football.
Dinosaur formation and tactics that do not change whoever we play.
No plan B.
Although only 2 points from 6th, the last playoff place, we are losing ground on the top 5.

When you build up the draws the run is determined by the eventual win/loss. If we beat Leeds and keep another clean sheet, it looks a solid run of results.

We clearly miss Jones. I would like to see him and Ameobi up top together to see if that partnership yields the goals we're missing.
