You've spoken to Dalman a few times, some on here regard you as a leader. I think you should be in his ear about it.

Mehmet Dalman definitely does know about the issues of stewarding raised by some supporters. He has specifically mentioned it in meetings he has had with fans` group representatives on more than one occasion. His stance on the issue has been consistent. Fans that want to stand can do so without question or interference by stewards in the Canton Stand but the rest of the ground (to comply with the policy that the club agreed with the ground licencing authorities) is seating only - stand up by all means in exciting bits of play (that would be hard based on much of the football recently!!) but generally sit down and don`t obstruct the view of others.
Wayne was at those meetings where Mehmet made those comments (as was Ken Choo). People like Vince and Corky , who were also there , can confirm this.

But Monday night wasn't about standing or obstructing the view, far from it and while I appreciate they have a job do to there is also a way of doing that job and conducting themselves in the correct manner.
Secondly a lot of fans would rather watch the match from the side of the pitch and be closer to the away fans for the banter/atmosphere. Is this not a gap than can be bridged? I think it can easily, but only if the club want to. There are more than enough empty seats to allow a standing up section to be created in one of the blocks or part of the stand. There are some bad apples amongst the stewards or from above, they have to work with fans not against us.

I wanted to stand in the new ground and it was made very clear at the time of moving into the new stadium that there would be areas where standing would be tolerated and other than in those areas, standing would not be allowed and that would be enforced.
Knowing that I got my season ticket in 106 (approximately in the same position I used to stand on the Grange End and I can honestly say that I have never had a problem with any of the stewards, either outside the ground before the game, or inside the ground during and afterwards.
I am not saying that some people may have an absolutely proper and legitimate gripe with the way they have been treated by the stewards but as far as standing during the game is concerned, the club have been consistent in saying that, if you want to stand, there is an area of the ground (ie in the Canton Stand) where you will be able to do so without any interference from the stewards and in my experience, that has indeed been the case.

Let me know the details of what the exact gripe is about the stewards` approach/attitude and I will make sure it is on the agenda for the next meeting with M Dalman and K Choo and brought directly to their attention.
The blunt answer to standing to watch the match from the side of the pitch though is that it is not going to happen. Before the stadium was even opened it was made perfectly clear that the only area where standing was to be allowed was the Canton Stand to give all supporters the choice between standing behind one goal or sitting in the stands to the side. It is not as if fans haven`t had a choice , and been made aware of that choice, for several seasons now.
The "gap" can`t be bridged easily as I know the club worked hard to get standing allowed at all in the ground and the ground safety people outside the club may also ban standing in the Canton Stand if the club isn`t seen to enforce non-standing in other parts of the ground. Not the club`s fault - they have pushed the matter as far as they can. Space availability isn`t the issue.

It just seems ott ,legally you don't have to sit down you just have to be in front of your allocated seat ,they had ago at someone in the back row a few games ago even know no bugger was behind them

I fully appreciate your response above, a lot of the things you have said are factual, realistic and I understand things are not as simple as a lot of us think. I can also understand and take in to account a lot of the information provided with regards standing up, although some common sense has to prevail with this as we are at a football match not a seminar.
Am sure you have read all the posts on the other thread which will give you some indication of the feelings and reasons amongst fans. I wasn't approached once, but I have watched it happen all season slowly becoming more annoyed with things and Monday took the biscuit.
I will happily provide all the information, concerns and feelings that are obvious from fans reactions and posts from Monday. The Steward is " Robert" he said he was in charge but didn't want to discuss anything when I approached him and certainly didn't handle things very well.
It is a sad state of affairs that so many fans who live and breathe city find themselves feeling like this, be it one section, 100 or 500, not one fan should feel like this going to a home match while the away fans " stand " and laugh at us being thrown out by our own stewards while at the same time disrespecting our countries flag.
A sour taste in my mouth that will not go away, what has our club come to??
I fully appreciate you listening and offering to bring it to the attention of Dalman, please PM me for more information and I will get a full statement and print off all the posts from fans. It would also be useful to know when the meeting is, this treatment and behaviour has to be stopped.
Any other fans who want to add anything, fire away and I will get them all printed off.

You are quite right that it is a football match where support should be loud and proud. The club must, and will, be made aware of the problems with the attitude of some stewards and the problems it is causing- maybe moving a number of the more experienced and "streetwise" stewards to areas like 116/117?
And maybe a bit of self policing in that area, stopping some of the younger fans wanting to act like "billy big bollocks" with the away section?
