' CCFC INJURY UPDATE '

Tue Oct 27, 2015 2:00 pm

After Cardiff City failed to get a shot on goal against rivals Bristol, they had to face up to the news that their star striker will miss another match.

Cardiff City have suffered a blow with the news main striker Kenwyne Jones is set to miss their Championship clash with Ipswich on the weekend.

The 31-year-old suffered a shin injury whilst on international duty with Trinidad & Tobago and despite no broken bones and just soft tissue injury Jones has been on crutches since.

He last featured for Cardiff in their 1-1 draw at Brighton on October 3 and has missed their last three Championship games, a 1-0 win over Boro and two goalless stalemates, at Preston and, last night, a disappointing 0-0 draw in the Severnside derby at home to Bristol City.

Against the Robins, the Bluebirds managed just nine shots all game and none of those were on target.

Boss Russell Slade was left bemoaning his side’s inability to create chances in the final third and knows, despite Jones himself only having two Championship goals this term, Jones remains his most potent striking threat.

But the big hit-man is set the miss the tough trip to Portman Road on Saturday and is also a big doubt for the Bluebirds’ trip to Leeds next Tuesday.

“Kenwyne’s a major doubt for Ipswich, but we’ll see how this week goes,” said Slade.

“The back end of this week we are hoping he will be out on the grass and will start doing a bit of work, running-wise.

"In truth, Ipswich will be looking just that bit too soon for him though.”

There was good news for Slade when it comes to midfielder Joe Ralls .

The youngster has overcome a hamstring problem and came off the bench against Bristol City and played almost the entire second-half, making an impact when he did so.

The 22-year-old looks a certainty to come back into the starting XI at Ipswich with Aron Gunnarsson looking most likely to drop back to the bench.

Long-term absentees, Ben Turner (ankle), Federico Macheda (back) and Bruno Manga (groin) are all still weeks away from contention.

Am I silly to believe that Rhys Healey should be recalled from Dundee and given a chance to impress?

Saadi must be mistaken. Rydog said he will definitely be involved this weekend against Ipswich.

Saadi isnt back training untill 1st of November. Club hasn't kept quiet at all. If you watch Player then Slade has given dates back training for every player currently injured

5 matches at least missed - after playing in a friendly match. Bad shin. For Gods sake. Helgusson ran into a goalpost and played the next game. With him and Macheda we have some freeloading woofers. Man up.

If he was watching anyone from our team they won't be going anywhere unless it's Marshall
