Will Tan ever get repaid the money he's put in?

Tue Oct 27, 2015 10:27 am

With Championship income ?

I just don't understand his logic if I'm honest with you. He doesn't attend games anymore, he doesn't give HIS manager transfer funds and yet at the same time he doesn't want to sell the club. Whilst like everyone else you have to admire football clubs who get promoted on a shoestring budget you also have to agree that each had a certain way of playing to even be up there in the first place.

Is it me or is the standard of Championship football crushed in recent years ?

Nothing he does is for our gain.

He will benefit from absolutely every decision he will make. Which is fair enough, but then it is also fair enough for us to have a go at him when he tries pathetic attempts to paper over the cracks like returning us to blue.

He may not get repaid immediately. But we owe the debt to him don't we?. He will get back what he has paid into it. As well as taking profits from our success.

He has little if any affiliation to the fans, therefore I doubt he would lose one second of sleep over turning us to shit and draining us of all our talent & money. Which has already started.

I cant remember the name of the company but he bought it and it wasn't profitable so he made cut backs to make it self sufficient so people could continue to use it and people kept jobs etc.

I tend to think he is going along those lines with City.

PS how was your dog sunday? you had the difficult one? or was it not you

I'm not sure he's getting anything out of subsidising us which is what he's doing currently.

I think the only way whilst the club is at this level is by selling but he doesn't want to do that so its just bizarre

No one will buy us as we currently are. We are not an attractive proposition to prospective owners.

That's more because of the debt than anything else through surely

He will only make money in the long run if we get into profit and back in the premiership

Possibly. But also many have been burnt by buying Championship clubs hoping for a quick promotion to the top league.

If you take the football fan out of the equation then it is quite simple to see Tan's thinking. He has put over £130m into the club and it has gone tits up. He is then presented with an option to continue to throw good money after bad by sanctioning signings such as Adam Le Fonde or he says no more and expects the club to make the most of what they have.

I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask well paid players to get off their collective backsides and start doing what they are employed to do rather than moaning and expecting free transfers to fit in with their family life.

However, you make an excellent point that the Championship is not as good as it was and getting out of it should be a lot easier than most people think. I have said it so many times, get our forwards scoring and we will piss this league.

I think a central midfield playmaker with some pace and can burst forward is more of a urgency than a striker.

Whittingham pinging balls around like a quarter back is easy to defend against if the team isn't playing a high tempo pressing game

I think Tan is so stubborn we`ll carry on as a mid table team in the Championship for two more seasons to collect the total parachute payments. To quote VT January 9th 2015 "
1. Starting from Saturday, 10 January 2015 and until the end of this season, our home kit shall be Blue. Our Away Kit shall be Red. I would like to thank the Football League for their approval to facilitate my request.
2. For the 2015/16 season, Cardiff City’s home kit colour shall be Blue. Our Away Kit colour shall be Red".
He only confirmed the return to blue till the end of this season, so this season is a experiment as a cost cutting exercise, and another payment is paid to him. Next year players contracts end, others return from loan, maybe even from his other clubs and he gives Slade room for a few low key additions to the squad and plod along to our last payment. Then I have a niggling hunch he`ll reverse the rebrand, recruit a proven manager and back him. And then he can say success was only possible in red and make us a laughing stock all over again. I hope I`m wrong and return to Blue isn`t our punishment, because I`m sure he`s loving the extra revenue through merchandise this season. :sladeout:

We didn't go far really, was a little awkward as we had to share as well so we just went down by the pump house and around. He was so slow it took ages anyway haha.
Yeah Llandough hill maybe an idea. Wouldn't be a bad idea for them to print off some routes.
