" Quotes from Russell Slade after the game. "

Tue Oct 27, 2015 1:15 am

When I read these quotes, I was staggered! Part of me was actually laughing. It's like something David Coleman would say. Have a look:

Slade said: "We were below par in the first half, we didn't have a creative edge. WHY? A MANAGER SHOULD KNOW HOW TO RECTIFY IT.

"We are tight and organised but we need to be doing more, particularly at home, to be creating more opportunities. MORE - MORE WHAT? AND WHY AT HOME?

"Sometimes in football you cannot always find the level you've set yourself but there's no need for doom and gloom. NO LET'S JUST LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE.

"If we had won this game then we would have been two points off second place, you have to be positive about what we're doing. YES AND IF MY LEGS WERE LONGER, I WOULD BE TALLER.

"We have to back this point up with a win like we did when we drew with Preston and beat Middlesbrough. SO WE ARE GOING FOR PATTERNS OF DRAW/WIN NOW. I GET IT. BUT THIS WAS A HOME GAME.

"We have to go to Ipswich now and back it up again to keep our momentum going. - BACK IT UP AGAIN? A HOME DRAW AGAINST A LOWER HALF SIDE?

Sorry about the capital letters.

It's just so annoying to hear any manager seem happy or OK with a performance like that. If that was ok, I dread a bad game.

This post is the perfect example of an over-reaction. A draw was a fair result based on the chances both teams created in the second half. Like Slade said there's no need for doom and gloom, we're in a very decent position.

I hope you are right. That game was a gimme. 2 points dropped and Bristol made to look good away from home. Come on.

In any case, some of his comments are daft. Who's over-reacting? I'm just putting Slade's comments into perspective (OK, granted, my perspective...)

Still no threat up front. Ameobi should do better. Come on coaches, sort his head out!!

He's not known for his intellectual prowess tbf. Total overreaction, teams dip in form it happens, we missed our best CB, our best striker, our creative player was out wide not central, we missed Ralls, Fabio had an off day and Revell who is stealing a living, played for too long.

Get some of those players back it's a much improved team.

A deeply disappointing performance. No creativity or penetration at all. I'll be amazed if we don't end up in mid-table mediocrity. What's happened to Kennedy...fast, direct and a handful? I know we have injuries, but we also have options.

Surely everything slade has said there is spot on? U want honesty and cant accept it. Perhaps you'd prefer malkys post match thoughts back 'we had 26 shot on goal' .... no we didn't malky but fans will cream over it anyway because they're more deluded than you.

Dosent speak a lot about the fotball does he.. But when he is, it's blatantly obvious he doesn't have a clue!
" tight and organized " Bristol fired 20 shots! Two hit the post and two was bloody amazing saves by Marshal..

We will be mid table playing dire football until Slade goes and somebody invests once more.

We need to get used to this reality

The biggest problem for me at the moment,is that we don't look like scoring and when we do score,we don't push on and score more.I can't remember the last time we really dominated the game and scored 3 or 4. We seem to hope than when Ameobi comes in,he'll pull a rabbit out of the hat and get us a goal. Too many fans are expecting Saadi to come in and be the answer to all our problems but what do we actually know about him? He could be another Cornelius although we haven't spent a fortune on this guy. Revell s clearly not good enough for this level so why don't we try 4,5,1 with Mason up front, although I accept he may not be mobile enough, but at least we won't be bullied and outplayed in midfield. How long is Kikachoi gong to be out? Can we bring in someone with pace n to change things a bit? I feel the manager should get the players up for a game like this but also the players should get themselves for a game like this aswell.

Correct, we don't look like scoring since kenwyn's been out. It's frustrating as we have pace out on loan in le fondre and Doyle, not to say they are going to make a huge difference but they offer more I feel than mason. He's too weak and lacks pace.

Our dip in form is also a five game unbeaten run, expectations have been lifted

Bristol City had a bad start to the season, but didn't they just beat Boro away the other week? They were also so unlucky to lose away at Brighton. I can definitely sense a revival.

I'm sorry but it does seem like an over-reaction, it seems like you'd have a pop at him no matter what he said, he can't win! Do you want him to be negative about the game? Surely it's better to remain positive and build on a decent point and another clean sheet?

I know it was a shit game and I'd understand your reaction if we were down the bottom and just lost but we're 4 points off the automatic spots man. We're Cardiff City, results always come before performances.

We're in a good position, Slade deserves credit for turning things around from last year. :bluescarf: :sladein:

Hey I'm not a Slade basher by any means. I don't think he's the one long term but always support the team and manager on the field. I just think he said some daft things this time. I'm all in favour of him having funding in January (posted a thread recently).

I'm not the only one having a go after the match. It was way below expectations. If I over-reacted, I accept that but I still feel he needs to show more passion post-match.

Some posters accuse me of a lack of intellect (not you obviously). Do you really think that's true?

Anyhow, it is never dull being a football fan. Stressful but not boring. Lol.
