Cardiff did nothing to win back their disappearing support as they failed to get past struggling Bristol City with Sammy Ameobi missing a sitter from four yards out in the 90th minute.
The first Severnside derby for two years was watched by just 15,287 at the Cardiff City Stadium and it was a game to quickly be forgotten as both sides produced wasteful displays.
Ameobi squandered the best chance of the evening when he had the entire goal to aim for as stoppage time approached, only for his side-footed shot to miss the gaping target.
