Injury update

Joe Mason has played an integral part for us this season, so it is good to see him back.

We knew it wasn’t major and he will train with us on Sunday. It was good we took him off half-time at Preston, it could have been worse and then he’s out long term.

A grade one can become a grade three tear. That would have been disappointing. We made the right move.

Now he’s given himself a chance to be in team for Monday. Kenwyne Jones is struggling to make the Bristol City game.

There is still some swelling there and that has a impact on weight bearing and just every day movement. It will get better.

A few more days and it should be a little bit freer for him.

He should be back the middle of next week Ben Turner is back on November 1 and the plan is to give him a game on November 13. Federico Macheda will be back on November 15 and Bruno manga is back on December 7.

That is the plan now with all these players. But things change so give us a few days leeway with them.

Kenwyne Jones is still out injured
Ben Turner doing light training.
Macheda and Manga out still for the next few weeks at least

The Opposition

Bristol City Football Club is a football club in Bristol, England. Their ground is Ashton Gate, located in the southwest of the city. They currently play in the Championship after winning League One during the 2014–15 season. In sealing the League One title, Bristol City became only the second team to win both the third-tier championship and Football League Trophy double during the same season.

Bristol City won the Welsh Cup – despite being an English club – in 1934. In 1907 they finished runners-up in Football League Division One, which is their highest ever final position. In 1909 they lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United, their only final. Since relegation in 1911, however, they only returned to the top division from 1976 to 1980 and did not contend for any honours then. In 1982, Bristol City became the first English club to suffer three consecutive relegations. They were promoted to the Football League Championship in the 2006–07 season after finishing second in League One but failed to make a second consecutive promotion to the Premier League after they were defeated by Hull City in the 2008 Football League Championship play-off Final at Wembley Stadium. With victories in 1986, 2003 and 2015, Bristol City are now the most successful team in the Football League Trophy.

The club's nickname is "The Robins", and a robin featured on the club's badge from 1976 to 1994. Official club merchandise, including replica kits, still has a label showing a robin. An attempt by the club to alter the badge was abandoned after it was criticised fiercely by fans. The team's main rivals are Bristol Rovers in the Bristol derby and Cardiff City in the Severnside derby, along with other regional teams in the West Country derby.

If we had a natural goal scorer in the team, I would have gone for a 3 or 4 goal win, but as things stand, a scruffy 1-0 win will do.

RUSSELL SLADE TALKS ABOUT MONDAYS GAME

By Steve Tucker

24/10/2015

Bristol City next, a Severnside derby, it will be a big game?

Every game gets bigger. It’s our neighbours and I’m looking forward to a good atmosphere.

It should be a good game with both teams trying to get points. They are improving and they are adjusting in the division.

They are investing in a couple of players. They’ve got a system they have played under Steve for a long time.

They know their jobs and are efficient. They are adjusting to life in Championship.

What are you memories of derby matches?

They tend to be unpredictable. It’s important to distance yourself from all that’s around you, but they are important to fans.

You can go in the next morning to work with the bragging rights. But it’s important we focus on our game-plan.

But there is always added intensity and awareness of taking the three points.

The big one at Sheffield United was Wednesday, at Notts County it was Forest, at Orient the London clubs and at Colchester it was Southend.
