Great result tonight, and I think we deserved it in the end. Well done City :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Who was your man of the match?

FABIO YET AGAIN FOR ME :ayatollah:

Good mentions for Revell and Whittingham though :thumbright:

48 hours to vote :ayatollah:

I thought Fabio and Whitts were excellent today but best for me was Peltier. Playing against Downing and Friend he didn't fail a challenge and his sweeping up around the back was something I haven't seen since SuperKev at his best.

Great performance all round though :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Cardiff City 1-0 Middlesbrough - Ratings
DAVID MARSHALL
One superb save to deny Albert Adomah's header in the first-half and superb reactions low down to deny Leadbitter which was worth the point itself. 8

LEE PELTIER
One of his better games for Cardiff with some solid work to deny George Friend space on the overlap and some important headers and crucial clearance off line. Has his limitations but difficult to fault here. 9

SEAN MORRISON
A more consistent and solid display than of late with some strong aerial work and good concentration to avoid the usual errors that can creep into game. 8

MATT CONNOLLY
Impressive in the main though was thankful his little slip and lack of reaction wasn't punished by Albert Adomah. Calm defending as required. 8

FABIO
Returned to the side after serving suspension and although allowed Adomah to get through once or twice kept the back door shut while also having plenty of attacking joy. Excellent energy. 8

PETER WHITTINGHAM
Moved over to the left normally occupied with Ralls and, with being allowed to tuck inside, found plenty of space to showcase his gifted left foot. 8

ARON GUNNARSSON
First league start of the season and it showed as he found it difficulty to shake off rustiness in terms of positioning and when in possession. First-half knock didn't help. 5

KAGISHO DIKGACOI
Disappointed with his use of the ball at Preston and was off it again here, looking particularly sluggish and unable to really impose self on game. 5

CRAIG NOONE
Tried to make the similar kind of impact he did from the bench at Preston and wasn't shy to track back and work for the team with a press but never really stretched Boro defence or caused enough problems. 6

JOE MASON
Dropped off performance levels by some way at Preston but movement to give midfield options was back here while took the physical hits and kept going back for more. 7

ALEX REVELL
Offered himself as a good target and provided decent knock downs without ever really threatening. If you could have Revell's attitude and work-rate and Kenwyne Jones' ability you would have a very good striker. 6

peltier was outstanding, A full back that can defend is becoming a lost art but slades best signing was faultless tonight.

whitts played well as did Fabio as usual

What I thought:

Marshall - 7.5 - Made some really good saves when needed

Peltier - 8 - Our best defender at actually defending, really composed and never let the man beat him.

Morrison - 6.5 - Decent game, good in the air but terrible at passing along the ground, often hoofs it.

Connolly - 7.5 - Very good game, in defence and attack, one lapse in concentration almost ruined it but not punished.

Fabio - 7.5 - Started first half hour slowly then started to get stuck in, love his passion as always.

Noone - 7 - Quite for a lot of the first half, but in second one of our few attacking players with drive/pace.

Dikgacoi - 7 - Not sure why he gets stick from some, not spectacular but some good composed play, some decent tackles too.

Gunarsson - 5.5 - Didn't really do anything, and I'm normally a fan, not particularly bad but not good either.

Whittingham - 7 - Sometimes frustating to see him deep in first half when playing with two DMs but started linking up better and played some excellent balls second half.

Mason - 6 - Good movement and touch but lacks pace. Works very hard and started to get in to game towards end.

Revell - 6 - Wins everything in the air but apart from that I'm not sure, doesn't have the quality of a clinical striker.

Slade - :thumbright: - Was a little unsure on lineup but remained organised and composed. Far from great football but did what was needed. Nullified the Boro attack, Nugent and Downing I thought did pretty much nothing. Lack of quality on the ball perhaps, understandable with some of the absentees, deserved the bit of luck in the end I thought.

Whitts for me!

I thought he was excellent (particularly in the first half)

Can't disagree with the majority who have gone with Fabio, though. He was also excellent, as was Noone and his late partnership with Sammy Ameobi

Disappointing player of the evening goes to Kagisho Dikgacoi who was way too loose with his distribution, gifting Boro with far too much free ball

Think that's a little harsh on Dikgacoi, Sven. First hour he did well, it was the only last half hour he struggled.

He's a very important player to us, we needed him last season if I'm honest.

Gunnarsson was a lot worse, proved to me why he is nowhere good enough for our side.

Gunnars very disappointing. If he wants to get selected ahead of Ralls he did himself no favours.Fabio was excellent, but Marshall' s saves were total class.

Maybe, but the whole team struggle with giving daft balls away and he just stood out for me in that department last night. I'm not against him though and think he has been a breath of fresh air in the team to date

Fabio for me - he just brings that attacking threat that our midfield and strikers do not.

Peltier has a very good game as well
