' CARDIFF CITY DELIVER IN AN, AND SLADE '

My View/Opinion

" CARDIFF CITY DELIVER IN AN ALL TIME LOW CROWD "

City tonight matched Boro and their injury hit team delivered the 3pts :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
Not a bad game to watch and our team deserved a bigger crowd

And for me RUSSELL SLADE delivered tonight and got us the 3pts :ayatollah:

CARDIFF CITY 1 MIDDLESBOROUGH 0 :thumbright:

Marshall; Peltier, Morrison, Connolly, Fabio; Whittingham, Dikgacoi, Gunnarsson, Noone; Mason, Revell

Cardiff City subs: Moore, Tamas, Malone, O'Keefe, Pilkington, Kennedy, Ameobi

Crowd 13,371

Boro had not scored in their last 2 games and could only draw at home on Sat v Fulham, plus got beat on their last away outing at Reading 2 nil, so for me they were there for the taking tonight.

City started well and were more than a match for Boro in the first half, for me Boro were ordinary and the first half was City's even though we faded in the last 10 mins.

City 0 Boro 0 Half time

Boro continued as they finished the first half, in control, but you could see why they have not scored in their previous games, their finishing was awful, Thankfully .
City though battled all the way and they themselves looked the stronger team towards the end of the second half :ayatollah:

86 Mins after looking like a nil nil draw, Whittingham free kick in, what looked like a Joe Mason goal, but was announced as an own goal, but who cares 1-0 City YES :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

My man of the match Fabio :thumbright:
CARDIFF CITY 1 BORO 0 :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Up next Bristol City home next Monday night :thumbright:

I was there in the family stand with my boy and the attendance was so poor tonight. 1000's of empty seats seats, crowd was so quiet until we scored. I don't think I've ever seen the stadium so empty.

It was sad to see, the team deserves better support :ayatollah:
All time record low crowd

Slade should be given a break from the negatives now he really has got this team our team to perform and full of spirit. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

We really do miss that deadly striker in front of goal, I thought dikgacoi had a pretty quiet game, gave the ball away a few times with poor passes and looked done by about 70 minutes! I thought whits and Fabio linked up really well, Noone looked like he had something to prove but looked isolated at times with little support from Peltier. For me MOTM was between Noone and Fabio. I thought Fabbirini looked really good for Middlesbrough and Nugent was being a nuisance but out defence worked hard, Morrison made a diving header clearance which I thought was vital, had he not got to it Middlesbrough were through on goal with no defenders left. Revell is a work horse but for me he is not a championship player, he was flicking the ball on a lot but I feel Mason is best when the ball is played on the floor into them channels. Over all it was a hard early 3 points from the team.

Great to be back after almost two months of absence. Great to see the Bluebirds win.

Got to be honest I enjoyed the game tonight thought the team worked hard, it's 12 games in now and we are just outside the playoffs, I'm on the fence with slade he's certainly not my first choice but he is proving me wrong (I was expecting us to be around 12the at this stage) I'll back him for the rest of the season but not convinced he will get us to playoffs hope he proves me wrong again :bluescarf: :sladein: :sladeout:(need a on the fence slade smiley lol)

Rydog,

It's a results business and Slade is getting results and for that he should be given credit. He also has produced a team that's hard to break down and does indeed seem to have a good spirit and togetherness.

But I can't agree that he's got any sort of a performance out of the team. It's painful watching this team at the moment - so slow and ponderous in possession, lacking any creativity or cutting edge and most of all, lacking any real pace in the side (Fabio excepted).

Credit to the players and Slade for contimuing to grind out results but my goodness it's not a thing of beauty to watch!

Well done Slade and the boys. Feared the worst tonight. A creditable win.

Re: ' CARDIFF CITY DELIVER IN AN, AND SLADE '

I thought we were poor tonight, lacked quality and the replacements Revell ( we already know, great in the air but that's it ) gunners ( he's better than that, one of his worst performances ) nooney ( flashes of brilliance but terrible ball retention, doesn't give the team enough over 90 minutes )

Positives, really determined and this city side are hard to break down although we did gift them one golden opportunity. We say it time and time again but the obvious lack of pace is restricting us from being a half tidy team, we find ourselves in great positions but then can't surge forward or beyond and it's all held up.

Missed Ralls massively tonight, but I felt towards the end we could pinch it and we did. Poor crowd, fans have simply lost interest :bluebird: :bluescarf:

I thought we were poor, except for some resolute defending. Nothing up front at all.

Not quite sure how we won that game but we did and move on to hopefully another win on monday

So much better than last season, I feel like im actually watching a team that wants to put the effort in and play for the club, nothing like the previous 2 seasons. Really enjoyed tonight's game, this team are proving a lot of people wrong and im loving it. BLUEBIRDS !!!!! :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

A rare occasion but have to agree with your post but based on tonight's game as I have seen much better football this year, my worry is we are slipping back to last seasons style. What happened to the team that passed hull to death? Well the few changes made a massive difference, but the reports of the last few away games have not been great albeit two draws.

Over the moon with the win, we have a good habit of doing this but our squad maybe not as strong as we think :bluebird:

When you play against one of the divisions best sides playing good football is not an option its a grind its all about result than the style when you come against side like Boro.

I'm sorry but Malky's football was NEVER as dull as what we have seen since Slade arrived.

I agree that Malky's football could be pragmatic at times but I never felt as bored watching Malky's teams as I do with the current set up. Again today the first half was absolutely dire and the second half only marginally better.

And as you say, Malky was winning week in and week out, something Slade has not managed to do yet.

Yes it is a results business but is it any wonder with the type of football being served up that we are playing in front of our lowest crowds ever at the stadium?

I think it's all about who you play. I'd say QPR away was our best performance for a while. We played fantastic football there. It all depends who you play, we played quite defensively tonight, 3 in the middle at times but it frustrated Boro. I prefer changing tactics to face the opposition, rather than the same each game. If it means we have to play drab football to get the win I'm okay with it depending on opposition.

The trouble is that when we play against some of the divisions worst sides playing crap football (Preston and Rotherham for example) it's still a grind as we have no other way of playing!

I think Malky's football was terrible but we got results and Slade is getting them too and winning i belive is what will bring the crowds back because did Malkys bad football draw crowds away no because we won all the time and if we go on a winning run they will return and Bristol next week should draw a decent crowd. :thumbright: :ayatollah:
