Slade says you draw your away games and win your home games, exactly what Ive been saying for years :thumbright: :thumbright:

Manager Russell Slade has called on the Cardiff side to build on the point we gained against Preston North End at the weekend.

Going into the game against Middlesbrough, Slade said there were positives that could be taken from the scoreless draw at Deepdale, but to make that really count for something, we needed to take another positive point from Middlesbrough.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game in his pre match press conference, the gaffer explained.

'Overall, the first half against Preston wasn`t a great performance. However, all you can do away from home is keep a clean sheet, and then we ought to take one or two of the chances that we had. We thought that Nooney coming on would be very positive, as we anticipated an open second half from the work that we`d done on them. Joe Ralls had a slight hamstring problem and we didn`t hesitate to make that change. Nooney then came into things and terrorised the full-back, which was great, while Revs got in some good first time headers up top.'

Slade went on to say that for him, second half especially, we looked a real threat at times and there were opportunities for us to take to win the game and come back with all three points, but unfortunately we couldn't make that one chance go for us.

'We looked a real threat in the second period at times and there were opportunities there to go and win it. Sadly we haven`t, but we`ll have to go back, try and improve again, and look at our strategies to have more opportunities to get a goal.'

A boost for the gaffer he hopes is the fact that the next two matches are on home soil.

'With two home matches coming up, this could be a good point in context. If you`re drawing away from home, keeping the numbers ticking over, and winning your home games, then that`s the ideal recipe.'
