Vince Alm

Questions to all cardiff city supporters who have kids.

Swansea scouts having a scatter gun approach and just picking up any kid who is kicking a ball in school or on a park in Cardiff to try and get a foot hold in the area. as supporters of their rivals would you allow your child to play for them? ☺please keep the responses clean

Annis, the whole development of the kids these days is flawed. Kids are getting picked up by clubs because their parents are somebody or in the know. My sons team have a player who has been picked up by Swansea, funny enough he his dad is friends with one of the coaches, by no means is he anywhere near the best player in the team.

If my son had the opportunity to go play in Swansea academy I'd let him. He's 8 years old and I would never let my love for city (he supports city too) get in the way of his development.

I have a few friends with cousins in the city academy and they don't speak highly of it at all!

Dont know about Cardiff, but our kids in Neath would not be allowed.
Cardiff City also have a foothold down here mind so it swings in roundabouts.

From FB

Kevin Roper: Vince my lad trained thru the leisure centre city academy for 2 yrs , eventually went for trials and went back a second time and even tho the filled him up , they never followed up and he lost interest , its sad kids are being snapped up for the swans , but when kids want to progress and there local club that is supposed to develope young talent just want to be taken seriously , sad situation .

I have been invoked in kids football for years I coach a team and have had involvement in the ccfc adc with my son .
Cardiff have missed the boat not giving kids a fair chance the coaching on times is not very good and it lacks any direction.
Lots of people think the adc is a money making project.
Swansea have come in and capitalised on all of this and made there set up more desirable to the kids and the parents. The philosophy of the club goes from top to bottom with clear direction unfortunately I'm hereing good reports not to be said for ours.
I personally wasn't impressed in four years my son was at ccfc academy.
The one thing letting the jacks down is the quality of there choice in a player lots of boys I see get picked by Swansea but clearly they ain't academy standard.
This area is where we need to capitalize making ours real quality and better than there's.
Ultimately it's up to ccfc to see there downfall and sort it out.

Simples, go to Dario Gradi and get his advice on how to set up an academy and his candidates for a great Academy Director, what he doesn't know about coaching kids and academies could be written on the back of a postage stamp

I know someone whose son is now in the swansea academy. The family live in Cardiff.
Their son was with the city academy. He was told by us he was not required - so first went to have a look at Southampton - not sure what happened there - but when I saw him last week - he was decked out in his new Swansea academy kit.

The kid (and his Dad) just want to try and give him the best opportunity possible in the hope he may do something. His dad is a kids coach for a fairly well known club in cardiff.

I dont know the full story, they obviously have no problem with him doing that - neither would I to be honest, especially if he has already been told by the city he is not required.

this is a no brainer, obviously every parent would want the best for their son, whether its Swansea or not

Annis you answered why they are doing it? (Scatter gun)
Its about making money out of being in premier, about 600 average kids paying for basic training from a premier club!! Nice earner for them its that simple.

Vince Alm should stick to running busses.

What ever happened then to " young guns " ?

That thing. Fat mouth Gwyn Davies mouthed off about ?

You didn't want to listen !

Good on the swans on taking the initiative !
