Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has revealed the Serie A club turned numerous offers for France international during the summer.
He said: “There were offers from other clubs formalised, but we have rejected them because Paul is the heritage of the club.
“Maybe we have loaded him with many responsibilities, but this will help him to become a leader.”
SPURS AND UNITED IN BERAHINO BATTLE
Manchester United will go-head-to-head with Tottenham in a bid to sign West Brom striker Saido Berahino, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
The England U21 striker threatened to never play for West Brom again after they blocked his summer move to Spurs but now United are thought to be ready to make a January move.
The report suggests Louis van Gaal has shortlisted the 22-year-old as possible competition for Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, but Tottenham are also still keen on the forward.

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has paid tribute to Aston Villa for letting Joe Cole move to the Ricoh Arena on loan.
Cole joined the League One side on a short-term loan deal on Friday.

'MARCHISIO NOT INTERESTED IN LIVERPOOL'
Italy midfielder Claudio Marchisio is not interested in joining Liverpool and wants to finish his career with Juventus, according to the Turin club's chief executive Giuseppe Marotta.
Marchisio has been linked with a move to Anfield to work under new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, but Marotta believes the 29-year-old is going nowhere - despite the Bianconeri having received "several offers".
"We get so many offers for our players, but we are used to buying - not selling," Marotta told Premium Sport shortly before Juve's 0-0 Serie A draw at Inter Milan on Sunday evening.
"We have renewed with him, our focus is strong and I think Claudio's first thought is to finish his career here. Not only Liverpool, we have received several offers."
MONK DISMISSES AYEW SPECULATION
Swansea boss Garry Monk has dismissed reports linking Andre Ayew with Liverpool.
Reports have suggested new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on the Swans striker, who is thought to be a life-long Liverpool fan.
But Monk, who is preparing his side to face Stoke in the Monday Night Football, is unconcerned with the speculation.
He said: “The speculation starts earlier and earlier every year, but I don’t think about it. There is no point in me focusing on things like that, things are not reality. The things I need to concentrate on are the things in front of me that are reality.
“Until anyone comes to me and says anything concrete it is not worth thinking about. It is part of the game, players get linked everywhere, every year. That is part of the job and I never focus on that. It is not my concern if he is a Liverpool fan or not. I could say there are 1,000 players I admire in the game, but is there any point in that?”
REAL TRACK BRAZILIAN YOUNGSTER
Real Madrid are keen on Brazilian teenager Leandrinho, according to Globoesporte.
The 16-year-old, who is on the books at Ponte Preta, has come to prominence in his homeland over the past few months, prompting admiring glances from Europe.
Globoesporte reports that Real Madrid are following him closely with a view to snapping him up and allowing him to continue his development with the club’s reserve side Castilla.
Real Madrid could encounter a problem though, as the young playmaker is represented by the agent Mino Raiola, who does not have a good relationship with the Bernabeu giants.
CHELSEA SCOUT SEVILLA STAR
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is targeting Sevilla's Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to the Shakhtar Donetsk manager.
The Blues boss was in Kiev on Monday for Spain's 1-0 win over Ukraine in the European Qualifiers and winger Konoplyanka is said to have been one of three potential signings he was watching.
Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu says he spoke to Mourinho and stated that 26-year-old Konoplyanka, along with Andriy Yarmolenko and Alex Teixeira, were all being considered as options for Stamford Bridge.
"Mourinho is interested in Yevhen Konoplyanka," Lucescu said. "I was at Ukraine versus Spain with Mourinho and he is interested in some players. Perhaps it is Yarmolenko or Teixeira, if not, then it is Konoplyanka."
MARSEILLE KEEN ON OSPINA
Marseille would be keen to sign Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina should he say he wants to leave Emirates Stadium.
According to Le 10 Sport, the Colombian is reportedly being lined up by the Ligue 1 giants to replace Steve Mandanda.
The former Nice stopper, who was Arsenal's first choice for much of last season, has found himself behind Petr Cech in the pecking order this season and he could be tempted with a move back to the French top-flight.
