MALONE NEEDS TO FOCUS ON DEFENCE FIRST

Lee Peltier has not pulled up trees in his right-back role but he was solid enough as he stepped in for the suspended Fabio. He is limited and isn’t the most reliable in possession but at the very least he knows his job is first and foremost to keep his flank tight and he can be happy enough on that front at Preston.
Scott Malone, on the other hand, showed yet again he can be guilty of switching off and forgetting he is a defender. The number of times Preston got joy down his side in the later stages was a real concern and what was more so that he didn’t seem to heed the warnings.
