" NO GO JOE "

It’s been tough to fault Joe Mason’s form this term and it’s clear he’s responded into the new-found faith placed into him by Russell Slade. It’s possibly been enough to prompt Roy Keane’s visit to Deepdale, the Republic of Ireland assistant boss said to be at Deepdale with Mason one of only a handful of eligible players on show.

Whether Mason knew and it affected his performance, only he can say, but this was nothing like the No.10 whose clever running and movement has done much to help Cardiff change their methods of attack this term. Mason’s touch was well off all game and showed none of the intelligence that makes him a player to appreciate.

With Cardiff struggling to link play perhaps it underlined the role Mason has in this team and so it’s vital he does not dwell on this display and bounces back against Boro.

Nothing to do with Roy Keane if you ask me because so far this season Joe has on 25 occasions had a poor first touch which has resulted in loss of possession, when you add to that the 20 times he has lost the ball when in possession of it that leaves only 4 other players in the Championship with worse records.

I like Joe but he needs to improve a hell of a lot because he is currently a major contributor to the team failing to succesfully link play in the offensive 3rd of the pitch.

I'm sorry to say Mason has gone backwards. I want the old Mason back! The Mason who first joined us was fearless, raw, pacey, could go past players and could create something out of nothing. I remember his goal away to Middlesbrough early in the game when he twisted and turned their defender inside out before firing into the corner.

Sadly, I don't think Mason can do that now. Mason used to have that raw edge to his game to make him unpredictable, but it seems we have coached that raw style out of him and he is now a predictable, manufactured footballer who has lost his pace.

He can't run in behind defenders like he used to and he can't hold the ball up. He gets constantly outmuscled, so if you don't have pace or strength, you have to make up for it with your touch and footballing brain. Mason is currently failing to do this.

Mason is now easy to play against and we don't want a striker in our team who's easy to play against.

If mason dont shape up f**k him off and play ameobi in the number 10 role behind saadi. Ameobi useless as a centre forward but could be good as a number 10 or winger imo.

Shape up or ship out joe.
