Kenwyne Jones injury latest: Cardiff City in the dark over star striker but X-Ray confirms his shin isn't broken

Bluebirds boss Russell Slade admits he'll be in the dark about the extent of Kenwyne Jones' injury until the striker returns from Trinidad and Tobago
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade will sweat on the results of scans of Kenwyne Jones as he remains in the dark over his frontman's fitness until he returns to the UK.
Jones is thought to have been told to remain in the Caribbean to allow swelling to go down after a shin injury suffered on international duty for Trinidad & Tobago left him on crutches.
Initial fears of a broken leg were eased after X-Rays in Port of Spain but Slade has admitted he cannot be sure how long he will be without the 31-year-old with his presence missed in a drab 0-0 Deepdale draw .
Slade hopes Jones will be back at the club on Sunday where he can gain more information on the problem having also lost defender Bruno Manga as he suffered a groin injury on duty for Gabon.
Slade said: “Kenwyne picked up a shin injury. He's had it X-Rayed and it's not broken which was the most important thing, but there is a lot of swelling there and he will be assessed when he gets back.
“But right now we don't know how long he would be out. It is the same as Bruno when it can be difficult to get the information you require.
“It's disappointed as he could have made the difference – you need your goalscorers fit to give you options and we didn't have that option here.”
Slade refused to hide from the sluggish nature of his side's display in the first-half especially, but did insist Craig Noone – who did spark some life into the Bluebirds after the break – could have earned a penalty.
Slade, whose side face Middlesbrough on Tuesday, said: “It was disappointing. There was only glimpses of what we've worked on and it wasn't a great game or spectacle in the first-half and not a lot of opportunities.
“It was in contrast to the second-half; mistakes were made but there were opportunities, we did push forward and Craig Noone made a difference.
“We could have had a penalty, through him and it looks a strong claim but we don't seem to be getting them at the moment.
“Preston put their bodies on the line they threw everything at it but both teams have had a lot of shots but not enough on target.”
The Trinidad and Tobago FA Statement
The TTFA and the management of the Senior Men's National Team is pleased to advise that X-rays have indicated that T&T Senior Men's team captain Kenwyne Jones suffered no bone damage. Jones was taken to St Clair Medical for observation following last night's International Friendly with Nicaragua at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. He was stretchered off in the second half after going down following a collision during play.
Team Doctor Israel Dowlat stated that Jones sustained soft tissue injury to the left lower leg. He is presently non-weightbearing with crutches and is on anti inflammatory medication. He should be able to take the field again in at least two weeks. #GodSpeed

That's a bruised and swollen shin in other words.
Man up, get your Arse back over here and get out on the pitch.
What is it with modern footballers.
I bet Helguson would have been out there today, or Dwyer or Perry.

In fairness you have to think of the flight back to the UK and the possibility of a DVT (Blood Clot) with any leg injury.
