The post posts were big enough, its the distance between them that was the problem.

Eight points from a possible eighteen since the beginning of September. We are looking like a mid table side which is where a lot of us thought we would be at the end of the season. Considering the money Slade has available this season, a mid table position will be a fair achievement.

Very little. He was brought in to try and stabilise the club while the running costs were being cut as much as possible, and hopefully have an eye for a bargain at the same time. I don't believe he was hired with promotion in mind, and I have said since day 1 that surviving in the championship while undergoing huge cost cutting is Tan's priority this season. Time will tell, but I think mid table is the best we can hope for, and if we had vast amounts of money to spend with a serious intent to challenge for promotion, I don't think Slade would be the man for the job.

Yes more like fingers crossed if we are able to challenge is the feeling I'm getting. Lets just say we get lucky and go up. Do you think the club will let Slade carry on?

Tough to sack a manager that gets you promoted but we would surely be certain to go down from the Premier League under Slade.

While we are cutting costs and bringing in players on the cheap then I don't think your likely to get better than Slade, especially for the money he's reportedly on.

If we can hover around the play offs then I feel that will be a respectable season

If you were billionaire club owner, and were deadly serious about getting your club back to the Premier League, who would you appoint as your manager. I think you would look for someone with plenty of Championship experience, and if possible someone with a proven track record of getting teams promoted. If you were looking to just consolidate your position in the Championship while cutting costs at the same time, and possibly try to keep the interest of supporters by threatening the play off places, you would probably go for a completely different type of manager. I will let you decide which category Slade fits in to, but I don't think we need to worry about Tan ever having to concern himself with Slade managing in the Premier League.

What a great post!

Mind you your could say the same about Tan not having to worry about OGS managing us in the Premiership again and is employing Slade on a much less salary to get the same result. I fully agree getting a solid manager with Championship experience would have come with a hefty wage.
